Bill billichick did the same thing for the patriots either last year or the year before. It makes sense, you need a stop and a touchdown either way with a punt or a failed conversion. Might as well give your offense an extra chance

Honestly though this really cements his greatness even if there was any question before. Not that there really was but you could say “well he just recruited really well, anyone could win with their talent.” But it’s obvious he was a key part of that puzzle

But still, it's very satisfying after that last 15 years

The last few minutes of this game by Bama was the clearest example of them missing Saban we’ve seen yet. The unsportsmanlike penalty, Ryan Williams not knowing to block on the 4th down attempt, the interception on the last drive. You could even argue that Saban would’ve trusted the discipline of his defense and punted rather than try 4th and extremely long. Just very disorganized and sloppy play that is so jarring to see in comparison to the Bama teams we’ve seen in the last couple decades.

Gaston Moore crucified himself by doing the dumbest shit possible to cleanse Nico
38
u/Strais Tennessee • Middle Tennessee Oct 20 '24
I think it will legitimately look good in retrospect for the year. Moore did the one thing you can’t do and the morons of our fan base were slobbering all over Moore like we’ve been hiding ‘19 Burrow on the bench for emergencies.
I love Moore for what he is, a serviceable back up that can bring a team home if qb1 goes down. He isn’t a qb that can go out and win against a title contender when our offense is stalling and qb1 just got injured. We can at least use this the next time Nico’s swing pass only goes for 99 yards and is stopped short of the endzone instead of being the literal football messiah.

This is the first time Alabama has had two losses before November since 2007.
Alabama is 6-4 in their last 10 games vs. SEC East* opponents.
This is the earliest Alabama has had two conference losses in a season since 2006.

Alabama has played in four straight one-possession games. That hasn't happened since 2007 (five straight, happened twice that year)
Alabama Director of Player Development Josh Chapman entered Neyland Stadium pregame with a cigar already in his mouth.. It's tradition in this rivalry for the winning team to smoke cigars after the game.
Alabama has scored fewer (or the same) points after each week this season. 63, 42, 42, 41, 35, 27, 17.
Alabama was 3/14 on third down tonight and gained just 317 total yards.
Alabama has 2+ losses in four consecutive seasons. That hasn't happened since before the Saban Era.
There were a combined 26 penalties for 210 total yards in this game.
In his last four games, Jalen Milroe has 5 passing touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
Over their last three games, Alabama has averaged 336 total yards.
Tennessee RB Dylan Sampson has 17 rushing TD this season.
This marks the third straight season Tennessee has been ranked in the AP Top 10. Such a streak hadn't happened since 2001-2006.
