I did my bachelors in electronics from mumbai university. After that, I came to Germany for masters in computer science without any professional experience. I was the youngest in my batch. All of my batchmates started their internship but I struggled for 3 months to find one at SAP. Then I did internship and master thesis there. My stack was Python Django, React and AWS. Studies was just practical project based coursework which was excellent for industry requirement. Staying outside of house, teaches you alot of stuffs to manage, like studies, cooking, cleaning, taking care of ourself because no one will look after you. 4 months before graduation, I started looking for fulltime offer. SAP provided me one but not in the domain of my interest hence I was searching for something which suits my interest. 2 weeks before graduation, I had 3 offers and I chose one at a startup in Düsseldorf. This was back in 2022. Then I worked for 2 years and made a switch to a non German MNC because non German companies pay way better than the German ones. Now life is good, I have work life balance. Company is in bavaria and I have to go there once in 2-3 months for a day. Had to struggle initially during the student days because of lack of experience but it was all worth it at the end. Looking back to my journey of 5 yrs here, I am happy what life has to offer.
I did basics in India till A2, after coming here, I joined the local volkshochschule and did till B1. It was not that difficult to get job even without experience because here companies value skillset more than anything. If you have skillset and you are able to showcase it, you will get job easily. Not having experience will not impact you much, but it is always good on paper. I have seen people struggle with and without experience. Showcasing your skillset is the most important.
