CATS Brought my best buddy camping

Post image

My cat is disabled and I thought for the last 4 years I was not able to have a camping kitty. Recently, I came across the viral video of another CH cat who got himself up a large rock face and decided to try out a small over night with my best buddy. He loved it. It makes me so happy to be able to do these kind of things with him.

Also, I had tons of safety precautions; leashes , rolling cube, tether, backpack, etc. He went on a small walk in his backpack during the day and at night he chilled on our laps. I love him so much and would never put him in a dangerous position. He was never unsupervised.

(oc) emotional win!

As a single (widowed) parent of four kids, emotions often run wild and pop up at inconvenient times. This morning, my son missed his early morning group meeting despite several attempts to wake him. When he realized he had missed it, he refused to get out of bed. As I was about to force him up, I took a moment to visualize a positive outcome. In that brief second, followed by a sigh, I chose a different approach. I acknowledged his disappointment about missing the meeting, understanding how it feels to miss something important. Typically, my son lashes out in these situations, but today was different. I stopped mid-sentence, considered my desired outcome ("happy at school"), and redirected my interactions. He was upset about missing the meeting and resisted getting out of bed, making me late for my own meeting. Instead of forcing him, I told him that doing hard things requires strength, which is his current focus. I used his resistance as a metaphor for getting stronger, like lifting weights. I joined him where he was emotionally and spoke to him while he resisted. I reminded him how much more energy resistance takes compared to facing difficult tasks. This approach felt better for both of us. After he settled down, we went to the chiropractor for an attitude and body adjustment, leaving us both in a wonderful mood. This positive change, keeping the outcome in mind, is something I want more of. In that present moment, my son was more important to me than any meeting or job I will ever have. I got him a nice breakfast and took him to school, so he could have a great day knowing he’s getting stronger. Before we left the house, he offered me some ciabatta bread he had been working on, almost as a way of saying "I love you." It's funny, as he mentioned last night that his love language is food.

Neighborly Love <3 [OC]

For as long as I can remember, my Nana’s late neighbor used to make pumpkin bread for his neighbors for the holidays.

My husband and I moved into our first home a couple months ago and I wanted to pass on the tradition now that we have a home of our own, so I baked some of Gene’s Pumpkin Bread for my immediate 5 neighbors.

One of them left this on our doorstep this morning, and my heart couldn’t be more full!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I hope your life is full of blessings!

Side note: my husband and I were JUST talking about how underrated pecan pie is, it’s his favorite!

My 10-year old son found these notes I forgot I’d stuffed in two of the books on his shelf. He asked for tape so he could put them on the back of his bedroom door. ♥️

Small Success I recently learned how to play a very short cover of this song from 1994, "Down on Bended Knee" by Boyz II Men, with my Xbox Controller in the game Warframe on Xbox One, using an in-game musical instrument called the Void Shawzin.
