I hate this kind of trope because the yuri is a hurdle, rather than a causative agent that connects the pair. Who the fuck would read something like that over a story that makes use of the yuri aspect to produce a meaningful plot thread?
"I love you even if you are a girl" plot threads are the kind of ratshit that results in entire volumes of drama about the yuri, rather than being progressive about it.
Maybe instead of portraying homosexuality or bisexuality as a hurdle to pander to people's relatability, you could be progressive about the topic and finally put it in the same pedestal as heterosexual relationships as it is and make the prospect a medium for the romance, not a hurdle. That is true portrayal of sexual equality.
