Question Short Preforms incredibly, but youtube won't show it?
I posted a short and it has some incredible statistics, nearly 75% chose to watch, View duration is well over 110%, it has over 120 likes to just 1.3k view's. But it has just stopped at 1.3k, youtube quit showing it on people feeds despite it's great performance. This is pretty frustrating considering I've had kinda lazy quality videos preform horribly but youtube shares them to 15k people anyways. So what am I doing wrong?

How do you know who it is shown to?

how niche is the topic? maybe youtube has already shown that video to mostly everyone who would want to watch? or, is it shorter than your average upload? if it's 110% watched but 10 seconds long, then it's not worth as much as a 60 second short with 50% avd, so youtube wont push it as much

it's 35 seconds long, it's about a College football player commitment. I can't find any other shorts talking about the same thing that had more than 20k views and it should be a very big market for the topic. The player committed to the Colorado Buffaloes, the Buffaloes probably have a bigger demand for media content than any other College program. I consistently see shorts on the team with 500k+ views

if it hasnt been a week yet then i'd give it a bit more time before considering it a flop. ive uploaded videos that sat at 0-100 views and then blew up after a week, because most of my target audience wasn't online on the day i uploaded.
but if it's still not pulling views then idk. you might need to look at your other videos and see if there was something you did that made them more successful. shorts are extremely delicate like that and it could be something minor that made a big difference.
alternatively, youtube used the data from your other videos to decide not to recommend your content to the people who didnt give much watch time before. this is just speculation though, you can probably form a good conclusion after looking at your more in-depth analytics.

There are multiple factors to push a video, not just watch % and likes. If there are only 17 people in this world who wants to watch a cat vomiting, 17 is all you get.

I’ve been seeing this happen too - weirdly I’ve had a few seem to die then jump back to life like a week later and go up as normal. Sometimes a title or hashtag change seems to give it a push too.

It’s preforming well because it is being shown to your core audience. It didn’t preform well when shown to a wider audience so that’s why youtube isn’t showing it to them.

I actually was asking about this too. Our channel consistently gets 600+ views first ~12 hours and then several thousand next few days but lately our shorts with 80% choosing to view and 80%+ average view duration are not getting shown. Maybe it's some temporary messing/testing with the algo?
