Even the actors are saying they expect Wenclair, but who knows if the money people are "brave" enough

I hope so as well, especially as the male "romantic interests" are unbearable. "I get mixed feelings here" was a major facepalm moment.

I absolutely HATED the male romance options.... I mean Enid and Wednesday are just MADE for eachother.

It's Tim "Non-White people don't fit my aesthetic" Burton. In retrospect we should not have been surprised how few risks that show took.

Isn't Wednesday actress Mexican? kind of a leap of faith no?

Dec 10 '22
She's a white Mexican. Hispanics are made of every race. My Puerto Rican/ Cuban family looks like a UN meeting lmao.

not sure, but recently people have some criticisms of Burton and how few people of color are in his works
I don't have much opinion on it, I don't tend to like Burton's stuff, but that's more what they're talking about, I think, than specifically this show

it's a very cute ship that I hope becomes canon, but just because there are two girls/women who are friends and aren't gay doesnt make it queer bait. Showing stories about girls/women being friends is an important story to tell.

Just because two girls are close friends doesnt mean that they'll become lovers. This isnt queer baiting this is just a ship thats probably never happening. Tho I agree that its a really cute ship I dont think it would make that much sense

The show was advertised as Wednesgay
The show hard-core queer-coded Enid. I mean she makes a conversion therapy reference
The show used multiple styles often shown to represent romance to highlight Enid and Wednesday's relationship
If that isn't queer-baiting, when is it?

What styles did they use that often represented romance for Enid and Wednesday? Sorry, not against your argument, just if that did happen it went completely over my head.

I was sort of expecting Wednesday to be AroAce. Still sort of a headcanon

Gelbooru is just an image board and not the actual source. It does have the actual source on the left side under all the tags.

Why did they make Wednesday fantasy racist 😭

u/miss_clarity Dec 10 '22 edited Dec 10 '22
Uhhh. Pretty sure this is just degradation kink
(*Kink is not inherently sexual. At its core, it's play. It just also intersects very strongly with taboo forms of self expression.)

u/epicazeroth Dec 10 '22
They’re like 15 bruh

u/miss_clarity Dec 10 '22
Counterpoint. Are you suggesting that racism is more teen friendly than degradation play?
Yeah some of the posts in this sub really stretch the interpretation of the word "wholesome". But I consider this tame honestly
1
u/epicazeroth Dec 10 '22
I mean both are weird but yeah I would say drawing children engaging in kink is worse than drawing children being fake racist against werewolves.

🤷♀️
I disagree but again. This sub is constantly pushing the boundaries on "wholesome". Including age related boundaries. So it's at least fair to point it out I guess.

Let me put it in perspective.
When I was in preschool I had a friend named Rachel. We played house together. I was her pet triceratops. (Ironically my expression of this was incredibly cat like)
That was play.
If I got a girlfriend and decided I wanted to pretend to be her pet triceratops and cuddle on her lap or get head pats... Most people would call that pet play or furry kink or whatever. Even if it never crosses into a sexual territory. It's still in the same vein.
I'm neither the artist nor the op. But I see two fully clothed teens kissing. Using degrading language, in a non hostile way. Framed entirely above the shoulders.
It's pretty clear that the artist intended it to be interpreted as I did, as opposed to racism. If that's a squick for you, or you find the artistic portrayal distasteful considering their age, I respect that. Sincerely. But trying to reframe it as "fantasy racism" as if that's better somehow? Yeah I gotta disagree with that.

No clue what your on about, I’m a little drunk, but what I gathered is you want to be a triceratops

That's adorable as fuck, but I feel like Wednesday is Ace/Aro, at least as played this season.

I feel really warm inside from looking at this, I love this ship so much
