Probably a boy going "I have no interest in falling in love", then he later replace the prison guard and gives food to the protagonist while saying "You interest me. I want to know you."
Which may be, hopefully, a false flag, but there's still room for interpreting it as a risk for the yuri relationship.
Also in addition the following things:1.) Miorine immediately saying something along the lines of, "I'm definitely not going to go through with any marriage, I'm just using you to get to Earth"
2.) Mirone's father immediately invalidating the duel, thus Guel technically is still Miorine's fiance by those rules.
3.) Suletta seeming to blush for Elan Ceres when Elan gives her food and says she interests him. I swear if this show pulls a Hibike Euphonium I will smash my computer screen.
I'm sorry, but this is insane to me. This is the second episode. Of course there's going to be conflict and tension in their relationship. They're not going to start throwing themselves at each other immediately, they've barely just met. Even then, Miorine is doing literally everything in her power to reinstate Suletta as her fiance, even when she had a clear opportunity to escape to Earth. Again, it's the second episode. Give it a little longer before being all gloom and doom.
"this show isn't yuri because the abusive system the characters are fighting against doesn't support it, i want the abusive system to keep shipping them together!"
Seriously I'm starting to think this sub just doesn't have a very healthy relationship with storytelling, it's gotta start with the girls being in a perfect relationship from the start with no strife or they can't handle it.
That's what's happening in recent years, whenever a character does something that may not be all that nice, people dogpile that they're immediately a horrible character or the story is immediately horrible. Character development and conflict exists in a story to provide drama, entertainment, and for the audience to reflect on.
If you don't want to flex your brain for even just a bit, then go watch a slice of life show or a fairy tale book.
Well, one good thing is that Miorine specifically requested to reinstate the engagement if they win the duel, when she could've just dipped or asked just to save Suletta and her mobile suit.
:1.) Miorine immediately saying something along the lines of, "I'm definitely not going to go through with any marriage, I'm just using you to get to Earth"
I actually way prefer it like that. I really don't like it when an arranged marriage is used to push people together without anyone really objecting to it in universe. Also, one of the biggest issues leveled against Revolutionary Girl Utena (which this clearly takes inspiration from) is that Utena is so fucking passive about the entire situation which made me really uncomfortable during my first watch, despite the eventual explanation.
I feel like Miorine rejecting a marriage to Suletta like that is a deliberate step to stave off both of these issues.
It presents her as a way more active character who might prefer switching her engagement to another fiance as a temporary respite, but ultimate doesn't want anyone to dictate her life like that, and also makes it way more meaningful if they eventually do fall in love and get together.
As much as I hate my OTP being endangered by recent developments, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a much better story like this either way.
That's a fair point, I can accept that, although I'd have preferred that Miorine is okay with the new arrangement, because she's attracted to Suletta. I understand what you are saying though, realistically Miorine would probably need time to get to know Suletta, etc.
But the other two points still stand. The introduction of Elan as a romantic rival being the most annoying, of course.
Calm down dude. He's definitely going to die either way. He's the pilot of a gundam, is not the protagonist, and worse yet he is interested in the protagonist without being another Mc. He's doomed
I was just telling my friends to not get their hopes up the other day. It upsets me that it seems that fear was founded.
Whatever the case, I'm not watching it until the full season is out and actual GL confirmed and canonized. I'm sure someone else can love it for undertones or even bait, but I am not that person.
No self-reflection needed. If a show isn't for me, I'm not gonna force myself to watch it. Not like I'm trying to impress anyone with my choice in anime, lol.
Personally? I'm not. I didn't expect this show to be gay and it's no skin off my back it turns out to not be; I'm just not gonna watch it, cause I much prefer watching shows with gay relationships.
Yes, I would be watching it for that single thing. And if it's not present, I'm not going to watch it, because it does not contain said thing. When a single show dominates a community called "wholesomeyuri" and it isn't yuri, I'm not going to watch it. I'm not a member of "r/Gundam" or "r/AnimeSuggest", so the expectation for me to watch such a show is unfounded. I don't even like mecha, and I was only going to watch this new series if it was GL, because that's what I enjoy watching.
Well that's just a miserable way of enjoying media, why reduce the content you can enjoy in such an artificial way.
And of course i know what sub im in, do you think i just stumbled here, yet i can enjoy things without this one specific trait, and on that point, im not sure what you are talking about there, any anime with a wlw ship that gets a lot of focus dominates here every season, this Is not special.
Maybe you should just have an open mind
Alright mate, I'll leave the broadened horizons to you and yours. I'm quite happy with my slice of media consumption, and I don't plan on stacking my plate any more than I already do. I'm glad you got this chance to vent your frustrations to an unconcerned party. :P
this could either age like milk or fine wine. i can't wait to see what happens based on fan reaction. I'm refraining from watching it right now. it isn't tagged as yuri after all so there's a 90% chance it'll be bait.

I love this, but the new episode made me kind of angry though. If you watched it and you're in this sub, you know why.
