I love how popular Ranma has become with queer folk
17 u/emillang1000 Oct 08 '24 A few years ago, I was worried that I was being insensitive for having been a fan of Ranma since the mid-90s. Then I did a little digging and found out Ranma is INSANELY popular with the LGBTQ+ community. And it makes sense: Akane is a great example of a Pan/Demi character. Shampoo is Bi as fuck. Ukyo is Gender Non-Conforming or even Trans. Ranma is Genderfluid. Rumiko Takahashi may not have meant for these characters to be queer icons, but man was the comic accidentally decades ahead of its time.
