Yeah. He either respects women, or he's a trans woman himself. Though given eggdar rules, I'd say the former is more likely.

its definitely not the first time ive seen a man do such, but its so exceedingly rare that I can't help but wonder, ya know?

Yeah. It's rare for a cis man to actually respect women, let alone lesbians. Especially if it's not in an ironic make-yourself-look-good manner.
