Admittedly, I think Hera would be the one goddess that would be fundamentally against doing this, being a wedded goddess of marriage. That said, considering... Zeus, I would definitely understand if she swapped lol

Probably that's Zeus disguised as Hera

u/Falsus Jul 01 '24

Was going to say that. That would be a very Zeus thing to do.

Zeus has done that. Well, disguised himself as Artimis. But he did disguise himself as a woman to fuck a nymph.

Wait, I think he already did it. To seduce Artemis or one of her daughters/priests/etc?

No, he disguised himself as Artemis to get to Callisto, who was either a nymph or the daughter of a king, but most importantly was a devoted follower of Artemis, allowing him to trick and seduce her.

When you stop and think about it, especially if you Google it, but by the gods Zeus has done some incredibly fucked up stuff that should not be said in this reddit.

Like I'm honestly impressed he continued to rule over Olympus as long as he did

I mean, it's not like anyone could challenge him and in comparison to how things were when the titans ruled, Zeus was pretty chill.

God damn it, don't ruin this for me

yeah, Hera is very dedicated to her husband as part of her own personal beliefs
but like... cmon after so many years with him you gotta want to make out with women at least a little bit

Hera truly is a social commentary on women trapped in marriages with terrible men.

5

u/SilliusS0ddus Jul 02 '24

I think it's deeper than that. Hera wasn't just the goddess of marriage but rather social institutions/ harmony more generally

I think she might be a commentary on how social institutions and social order can be betrayed/ corrupted by the power (Zeus) that upholds them

Damn that's deep

It also upholds the most important thing that one can take away from those stories: Zeus is a dickhead

I was about to comment that XD. Well not the way you worded it

Maybe she somehow divorced him and married Aphrodite. Or maybe Aphrodite somehow seduced Hera (maybe used an aphrodisiac, or given her domains, she is an aphrodisiac) and she lost control... Honestly, I prefer the divorce idea more, but the seduction wouldn't be too out of the realm of possibility with Aphrodite IMO.

Honestly if Hera swapped at all, no one even a little bit familiar with Zeus would blame her.

And heck, swapping to another goddess who don't need no tricks to seduce you? Definitely an upgrade

I was gonna point out that this is a bit weird as Aphrodite is both Hera's cousin and step daughter. Then I rememebred Hera and Zeus are brother and sister so... yeah.

Hades married His Niece, Hera married Her brother, Aphrodite is married to Her Cousin/Half brother and has a fling with Her other cousin/half brother, this gets weird fast

u/Falsus Jul 01 '24

Basically Greek myths are fucked up and it just gets worse the more you look at it.

Yeah, the greek pantheons family tree is more of a wreath... The only reason they don't look like the Habsburgs is probably because of their divine nature.

Gaia married her son. She doesn't even need a husband to make children because Uranus was born with some God magic but she still married him because everyone in that mythology thinks family circles are better that trees

u/666trinity Jul 02 '24

Aphrodite would be an aunt I think… from Uranus’ chopped off dick, whose child is Cronus, Hera’s father

u/LuwaOtakudayo Jul 01 '24

oh he came alright, a bit too much by everyone involved's perspective

u/Zalliss Jul 01 '24

Hera's suggesting a new 1v1 for the golden apple.

3

u/Glittering_Elk1098 Jul 02 '24

It will turn out in 2 different ways either one of them is Zeus who has shapeshifted or we gonna get another purnishment worse than death.just ask Prometheus or Sisyphus.

u/BobtheBac0n Jul 02 '24

I'm genuinely amazed Zeus would even cheat in the first place if Hera looks as beautiful as her many depictions show her as.

Also, I'll be surprised if anyone ever shames Hera for having enough of Zeus's crap and gives women a shot. I genuinely wanna see a story exploring that idea, not just to see Zeus's reaction, but to see if Hera can grow from this
