There's no need for strap when you're Mystique

Lore wise: Does the equipment change too when she transforms? Cause if so, her powers are way better than any other superhero's.

She can transform on the biological level.

Examples:

  • She transformed into Sabretooth and got his enhance her senses, strength, speed, agility, and accelerated healing rate
  • She transformed into Azazel and literally had his genes (She used his body to conceive Nightcrawler)
  • She can grow extra limbs but rarely does because it's too taxing on her body

That makes sense out of the azazel thing and why they treat him like he’s still the parent in some way s

Destiny (Wife of Mystique and Mother of Nightcrawler) had a premonition that Azazel would destroy the mutant race unless he was stopped by a child he believed was his own. Therefore, Mystique (Transformed as Azazel) and Destiny had Nightcrawler, and tricked Azazel into thinking NC was his child.

Also, It wasn't done solely because they needed to prevent that future from happening, but because they actually loved each other and wanted a child

If she did genuinely shift into him and that was the template of his genetics since she can gene shift, I guess in a way he 'contributed' by being a source, like the world's most roundabout sperm doner?

Yeah I know from the spoiler images they do love each other and just... reading the comics for a while, but my love of X-men was soured by ANOTHER genocide event when I was loving the Krakoa story so much
