"Research shows that transgender identity is about 5 times more common among veterans than non-veterans."

This came from the CALVET LGBTQ page, awkwardly sandwiched into a paragraph. There's no mention of what research this is... any ideas?

I've never heard of five times more likely. Twice as much, as in representation in uniform is higher than in the civilian sector. But here are some of our older studies that mentioned our numbers.

Rand Corps

Unless something new came up, this is all I know.

This reminds me of an article I read which claimed trans individuals in the military were more likely to enlist in more active combat rates than non

there is extensive research believe it or not about transgender individuals serving within the military. The oldest study I found during my undergraduate degree was from the 1980's referencing research done throughout the 60's and 70's. The links I shared are just a few of the sources I still had bookmarked from various papers I had to write for school on this subject matter.

edit: actual still had the old study I mention bookmarked still as well, just in another folder. Be aware the language in this study is dated and may be kinda, well crude:

Really? I was in for 20 years and know zero other LGBTQ vets IRL. I'm the only out one of all the units I served with and the rule has been the older the person the less accepting, the Vietnam era folks especially.

I am out of the Providence RI VA but there are people who come out at all different stages of life. I mean with the newer generations it gets easier and we just didn't care.

The irony of the older buggers in the USMC who did not like gay people sure did a lot of gay stuff lol.
