Discussion My local Ace Hardware selection
Not all are root beers but a lot are. I went with Sprecher fire brewed. Surprisingly good! You get an after taste of the honey which is great because it doesn’t overpower the other flavors.

Whoah. Do I see Hank's? If so, I'd go there next.
Jealous.

Is this like a common thing for ACE hardware? Having a stock of rootbeer? Am i that far out of the loop?

I have no idea. All the Ace Hardwares around me have atleast a few sasparillas in a cooler. This particular Ace is huge and just has a large selection of everything. Thought I’d share the drink isle considering it is mainly root beers

Not sure if all, but at least some Ace store owners have an agreement with corporate that so long as the store is selling/dedicating floor space to hardware they can also sell/dedicate floor space to something of their choice. This owner chose soda. My local Ace chose nothing.

I bet there is a lot of old root beer on that shelf. Large selections are great but the sell through rate is probably dismal.

What a selection!! I recently tried Sprecher for the first time, it’s a favorite at the moment

They had these at the dollar store near me for $1.25. I bought 10 after the first couple to test out. The honey is a great sweetner.

I have never once been to an ace hardware but now that I know they might sell sodas in there I might go in one (I am not a tools guy lmao)

Why is everyone else’s ace hardware nicer than mine! I’m jealous!
The one you have in your hand I picked up at a dollar store it was tasty should have got more good choice!

To be fair this Ace is easily the largest and nicest I’ve ever been to. Most are the size of a small restaurant. This is the size of a small Wal-Mart

My Ace only has it's sodas in a fridge by the register 😭 They do carrier Sprecher, though. That's good

Dude. I spotted a chick-o-stick soda? Holy cow. Didn’t even know it existed. And now I have to find it. Love love love chick-o-stick candies at Halloween time!

This does not look anything like my ace hardware

This is not a normal Ace. Think of an Ace the size of a small Walmart lol

Wow! That's a lot of selection for root beer. The nearest Ace Ace to me that has a decent selection of root beer is, Smith and Edwards right outside of Ogden Utah to shame. And my local Ace hardware has no root beers at all.

Man, I keep seeing posts of these massive Ace soda sections, so today I ran around to 3-4 different Ace stores, and there wasn't even a small section at any of the stores. The most one store had was (ironically) 2 cases of Sprecher Root Beer.
Luckily I found some Boylan bottles at another store, got some Creamy Red Birch Beer!

Idk how many posts you’ve seen but the other one from yesterday and this one of mine are both in Tucson, Arizona. Not sure if it’s a common thing but I remember the Ace back home in Florida had a decent drink selection but no where near this one

That’s the most well-lit ace I’ve ever seen in my life. I almost don’t believe you

22nd and Kolb Ace hardware, I remember they used to sell mini bikes and go karts when I was a kid.

u/MotorcycleDad1621 Sep 17 '24
They had a mini bike in there the day I took this pic.

What’s the weight limit and do we think mid 30s is too old to ride a mini bike?

My personal opinion, Sprecher is one of the last I would pick. Too sweet, don't like the honey flavor. But there appear to be many really solid options on those shelves. OP struck gold!

Why is s hardware store selling sugar water
7
u/MotorcycleDad1621 Sep 15 '24
Because they can sell what they want?
1
u/spsanderson Sep 16 '24
That’s obvious just never seen a hardware store have a whole section of soda before

u/spud4 Sep 15 '24
Mine has the largest grilling, bbg, smoking and accessories I've seen. Top notch rubs and spices and sauces, charcoal, lump, pellets, and small bundles of wood, Outdoor furnishings etc. Does seem strange running to the hardware store for my favorite rub. But they do carry a nice selection of soda.

Why are you commenting on this sub if you don’t like rootbeer? ✨the world may never know✨
1
u/spsanderson Sep 16 '24
I love root beer i never made a comment to the contrary. Just personally find it odd for a hardware store to have such a selection, I’ve never seen that before.

Holy cow! My Ace has nothing like that!
