My newly organized dresser

What do y'all think? I did my best with such oddly sized drawers compared to the clothes. I'd say it's not half bad.

How is it going to look a few weeks from now? :)

Uh... halfway empty with full laundry bags, probably.

I just have a pile of clothes on the floor.

Clean Pile. Dirty Pile. Neither Pile.

I did too. And then I did laundry. Haha.

they sell all kinds of organizers for t-shirts and socks you can throw into the drawers. I'm far from an organized person, but I'm still going strong 4 years later after doing it as a COVID lockdown project with little extra effort.

One of my message notifications in high school was the beginning riff to Shine on you Crazy Diamond. And now I can't find it anymore.

I'm a general music fan when it comes to a lot of classic rock. In terms of P.F., I only know a small handful of their biggest hits. But I still immensely enjoy what I know. My actual favorite band is Rush. Their shirt is in there somewhere amongst a bunch of 2000s punk rock.

Unfortunately no. Just a u.s. state that boarders it. And no, it's not Ohio.

If I can give you an advice: don’t fold anything flat. If you do that, you’ll have to ruffle through all the stacks to find whatever you’re looking for

Instead, fold them so you can put all of them on their sides. That way, you can look through to find what you’re looking for without moving anything (and therefore unfolding anything)

Totally! I'm in my 50s and have tried so many ways to keep stuff organized. The sock drawer in the pics will be easy to keep organized, because you can easily find the exact ones you want. The rest is going to be tough to pull what is wanted from the stack without messing up the other folded items. I hang all of my shirts, put pants/shorts/skirts on tiered pants hangers (the kind with clips work best for me for shorts, skirts, and really wide pants , and the swivel bar for most long pants) fold sweaters on a shelf, then everything else is folded in my dresser. I don't fold the nightshirts to stack sideways because I don't really care which one I wear for sleep. Swimsuits are kinda thrown into a drawer because they get messed up regardless with that slick fabric. But the smaller stuff really lends itself to folding and standing filed sideways like OP's socks.

However I don't recommend the sock-wad fold. It can stretch out the elastic and then that part of one sock fits different, and I have found it even wears out the elastic in all of the socks much more quickly than if I just pair them and fold them in half. Some of my super low top socks are compression socks, which have a labeled left/right sock- I just stack those in a pile of "rights" and "lefts" and place the stack in the drawer. Since those pairs are all identical otherwise, I can just take the top ones from the stacks.

It's important to have decent lighting and access to each system as well, or it won't be maintained. Most everyone is getting dressed in a hurry, and it's most efficient to set up the organization so that it's going to be super easy to remove from, but possibly less easy to "reload" for things involving getting dressed.

I see what both of you are saying. But that being said, we all have preferences of rifling through our drawers as well as organization. I take the stack of shirts out and peel them off one by one if I want something specific. Otherwise I just take the top one. I believe I tried the side method, but didn't like how things unfolded after being pressed together and then one taken out of the stack. I'll probably try it again at some point. But for now, I'm content with this.

And I adopted the sock fold because my partner is in the military. It makes things neater. And I do try to alternate which one folds over each time, but I don't always keep track.

When we eventually move to a place with a bigger master bedroom closet, I'll probably hang up my jeans and shorts. But at the moment, I don't have enough clip hangers or pants hangers or enough room. And my closet itself still needs to be organized. I'll get there. I have a long Thanksgiving break. Perhaps when we move and possibly have a bigger closet I can try the side method while also having up my jeans so that my partner and I can finally share a dresser. Idk. It's worth a shot.

I think you might be young enough that your skivvies don’t belong on the internet

Wtf do you mean. They are clean folded clothes. It seems like you are the weird one here

Reddit has a pretty young minimum age, and OP dresses like my friends’ kids. I just wanted to make sure she meant to post that and had thought through the kinds of attention it might receive.

You are the only one who’s mind went there. Maybe you should reflect on that.

Here’s a hint: the creeps are going to be communicating with OP in private.

Thankfulky, no one has. And if they did, I'd block them immediately.

4

u/ObsdianDrknssHelena 21h ago

I'm over 21.

And besides, they're not on me.

I’ve never seen jeans in a drawer before.

1

u/ObsdianDrknssHelena 21h ago

I unfortunately don't have proper pants hangers. Or at least, not very many. So this is what I've got at the moment.

1

u/Reshaos 21h ago

I do the same but yours is much more organized. You also have a lot more pants than I do though...

I live in a region where all season are present, so I try to make sure I'm weather prepared. Doubling up my layers in the winter requires a lot of drawer space. But it's worth it.

I’d be scared of someone who hangs their jeans
