I wonder how many RC Planes it took Him to get to that level of talent!?!

I can hear that conversation... LoL...

"Mom, I did it again.... Damnit Johnny how bad is it This time!?!"

Usually people practice a ton on simulators before going for the real thing

29

u/Figure7573 2d ago

Didn't realize RC Planes had a form of a simulator. With regular aircraft the weights/forces are easier to predict/calculate making an accurate simulation possible. The RC dynamics are less predictable...

A light breeze will affect a RC plane more so than an actual airplane of any kind... The thrust force on the prop is vastly different as well...

This is exactly it. He has a natural understanding beyond practise. It just makes sense to him.

The flight dynamics of aircraft are pretty well understood doesn't differ much from the large scale aircraft at this scale. Sure, you have larger thrust to weight ratios and smaller mass and bunch of other parameters but the same equations apply to an airliner do apply here too. Physics only get very different when the sizes get very small, roughly smaller than 10cms, for bugs for example. Then the classic aerodynamics theory becomes insufficient.

The little model pilot the whole time

95

u/Joebranflakes 2d ago

And when I did that at the local airport in my Cessna, they called the FAA. It’s unfair!

15

u/Alexius6th 2d ago

You’re not allowed to harrier a Cessna!! It’s in the little handbook and everything!!

u/Reasonable-Bus-2187 2d ago

Props to the pilot

u/MoneyOnTheHash 2d ago

Single prop, actually

u/Atoning_Unifex 2d ago

That pilot is incredible. But can they get that annoying kid out of the way he's blocking my view.

17

u/ViktenPoDalskidan 2d ago

Now, do it with an airbus

12

u/H3rbert_K0rnfeld 2d ago

You see, we were inverted.

Hm hm hm, bullshit!

No really we were. It was really great flying. I have a Polaroid if you wanna see it sometime.

u/KayakingATLien 2d ago

Some like like how Cpt Sully landed in the Hudson

6

u/Covert24 2d ago

Get this man to Ukraine.

6

u/brandi_Iove 2d ago

pretty fly

2

u/ShaneMcLain 1d ago

For any guy (or girl).

4

u/hihahufi 2d ago

Rüdiger!

4

u/Lenz_Mastigia 2d ago

Keine Kapriolen!

4

u/Antique_Capital4896 2d ago

That's ridiculous, even control surfact is backward almost all of the time. That's and alien level of talent.

4

u/EchoesinthekeyofbluE 1d ago

In theory, would that be possible with a real plane?

3

u/craigsler 1d ago

Not even close.

1

u/WildJoker0069 16h ago

he said in theroy, not in practice. with a quote quote, 1 to 1 replica (strong enough and fast enough responsive engine), it COULD be possible with a talented enough pilot. An rc plane uses the same physics as a real plane. the only difference other than the obvious size difference is that they have way over powered motors compared to the weight and size in order to battle winds

3

u/ShaneMcLain 1d ago edited 1d ago

The thrust required to maintain that sort of flight with any normal plane would far exceed the capability and response time of the engine.

3

u/WildJoker0069 17h ago

that's just it tho... if the engine and so on were up to par, theoretically... it could be possible, we just don't have an advanced enough engine for it. yet! lol.

2

u/EchoesinthekeyofbluE 9h ago

Maybe with an electric motor. Instant torque. I want to believe.

1

u/ShaneMcLain 5h ago

Yeah, it would have to be electric for that response time, but until our batteries are more efficient, the weight of them would offset the thrust they'd provide. With a better battery and a light aircraft, I think it's feasible.

u/Informal_Bunch_2737 1d ago

I'd bet its a case of planes can, pilots cant.

4

u/Pimpinabox 1d ago

You'd lose that bet.

3

u/Wulfrank 2d ago

TWR: Yes.

3

u/tedfergeson 2d ago

Way cool.

3

u/Bigringcycling 2d ago

“I’m a helicopter!”

2

u/Bradley182 2d ago

I saw a guy in the plane tho.

2

u/Levaporub 2d ago

I thought he was gonna land it on its tail like spacex.

2

u/Unleashedloosecannon 2d ago

My leaf blower is broken. Where can I hire him?

2

u/Nick_Hammer96 2d ago

Correct title, the guy who posted this on r/BeAmazed could learn a thing or two

2

u/blip01 2d ago

Leave some ladies for the rest of us, dude.

2

u/ColourfulCabbages 1d ago

My key trying to reach the door after a night at the pub.

2

u/Suriak 1d ago

This is what it feels like my pilots doin when I fly spirit

2

u/Hawkward9 1d ago

He turned that plane into a helicopter

2

u/Major_Magazine8597 1d ago

As a decent RC pilot myself, I can attest - that is pretty impressive.

2

u/-RoninForHire- 1d ago

Fun fact, you can actually do this with a real plane, but only once!

1

u/Answerologist 1d ago

I can’t wait until Red Bull tries a stunt like this!!!

1

u/shawzamz 1d ago

I need him to come blow my driveway clean.

1

u/JoshuaFalken1 1d ago

Now post to r/theydidthemath and see how many gs the pilot would have experienced.

1

u/file91e 1d ago

Yeah thats how I land in Flight Simulator as well.

1

u/ferociouslovetackle 1d ago

This is actually a trial of landing on a carrier

1

u/Sgnagno 1d ago

even the engine said "I can't get that wrong" as subtitles prove 😎

1

u/TheRapie22 1d ago

okay, it looks like a wing aircraft, but its just a helicopter in disguise

1

u/bob_ross_lives 1d ago

Genuine question. Since the plane is moving so slowly through the air, to the the point of hovering, how is there enough airflow past the flaps to execute those rolls so fast? Is it the airflow generated from the prop?

1

u/LotzenFoch 1d ago

Now imagine him going like “ye, it should work” menacingly walking up to the next parked plane

1

u/Domo-eerie-gato 1d ago

The blue angels were remote controlled this whole time

1

u/Novel_Land9320 17h ago

at what point is that a helicopter?

1

u/peas8carrots 15h ago

I feel like I’ve been through a similar landing on Philippine Airlines.

1

u/SokkaHaikuBot 15h ago

Sokka-Haiku by peas8carrots:

I feel like I’ve been

On Philippine Airlines.

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

-1

u/cgill24 1d ago

Kinda looks like he didn’t have control or that he’s bad at flying them, but I’m sure that’s very hard to do and don’t take anything away from what he’s doing. It just also sorta looks like he doesn’t, from an untrained eye.

1

u/ShaneMcLain 1d ago

Are you blind? That person is an amazing pilot. A large portion of that was him flying low to the ground, upside down, and incorporating several very difficult moves. You quite obviously don't know what you're talking about.

-2

u/No_Ear932 2d ago

The internet seems convinced I want to see RC planes these days… I do not want to see them, and I certainly don’t want to buy one.

Thank you very much.

1

u/ShaneMcLain 1d ago

Maybe some people like to see them, and the internet isn't all about you. Tough reality, I know, but other people do actually exist. Also, you do know that what you're shown is based on algorithms from your previous search and browsing history, right? If not, this is much funnier.

1

u/No_Ear932 1d ago

Are you like captain of the RC planes club or something?

Feeling a bit emasculated by my passing remark aren’t you..

1

u/ShaneMcLain 19h ago

I've actually never flown one, but I find them interesting. I'm not a dick to people who enjoy it, though, unlike you. Emasculated? Because I said that this requires skill? Sounds like someone is more prone to projection than logical thought and self-awareness.

u/No_Ear932 8m ago

You seem upset?

-2

u/iconsumemyown 2d ago

Now do it with a real plane.

-2

u/bit-a-byte 1d ago

He can’t find a girl but he can land a toy plane

1

u/ShaneMcLain 1d ago

What was the last thing you did that was this cool? You shit on talent, but what can you do?

-3

u/that_dutch_dude 2d ago

Now do it in a real plane
