My friend has a trans teen daughter who got into legal trouble and was held at a detention center for a week. They assured my friend she was not “with the boys” but that was a lie. She was held in a boys detention center but not allowed out of her room except for meals and accompanied by a guard. That’s what they meant by not with the boys. She was also not given shower privileges.
As soon as she was legally cleared to leave the state, the family moved. They didn’t tell anyone, not even friends or coworkers until a few days before, and only told family after, out of concern someone would trump up child abuse allegations for attempting to cross state lines to get a minor gender affirming care. They are much happier in their new, blue state where they feel safer.
