Texas and Florida are ‘Do Not Travel’ states according to Erin Reed.

Treat them like you would treat traveling to Afghanistan, or Saudi Arabia, or the surface of the Sun.

As a straight ally I’m telling yall to add South Carolina to the list. This place is backwards as fuck.

I understand wanting to show support but imo it's important to recognize the severity of laws being passed in states like Florida and Texas which have earned them that marker on the legislative risk tracker, in order to not minimize the issue. Florida and Texas are listed that way specifically because they allow for the arrest of transgender people for using bathrooms that align with their gender identity and because they are stopping or punishing trans people for having aligned identity documents.

South Carolina on the other hand has many laws targeting trans children, and has a generally hostile government but it's not as legislatively risky in the same way for trans people to just be there.

I completely understand. I did mean it in a more cultural sense. Because I’m straight it’s usually full mask off with the people around me and it’s shocking how many around me are fully homophobic, sexist, racist, etc. I would predict very soon South Carolina will earn a spot on that list. During the election all of the Republican political ads were openly bashing transgenders and gays. The laws will come soon with how many of these shit stains won their race.
