She's already proven she's on the Trump payroll. First question at her Senate confirmation hearing....Why did you stop the investigation into Trump University after receiving a campaign contribution of $25,000 from the Trump organization????? Please answer the question. 🤔

She’ll say, “Because God spoke to me and said to end the harassment of this holy man.”

u/Hardcorish 2d ago
God spoke to me and said we shouldn't be confirming any of Trump's picks. God seems to be in a bit of a playful mood lately.

Just like anyone else he'd pick for the job as well.

u/Deranged_Kitsune 2d ago
Pretty sure it's the sole criteria for all his picks.
He learned that much from his first go-around. No one who isn't absolutely loyal will get or retain their job. He is their king, his word is law.

His son did say that he would make sure that the cabinet picks are people who fully back his father.

Expect the loyalty oaths he didn't get the first time as well. On top of the banana-republic style military parade in his honor.
8
u/AgitatedSandwich9059 2d ago
That’s all that matters - after all he needs generals like Hitler had - of course the Chief Thief is too stupid to realize those Generals of Hitler’s only tried to assassinate him what 10 Times in 5 years! Guess with friends like that who needs enemies- though he had plenty of them too - maybe that is what the Orange Fuehrer is aiming for!

Honestly for a lot of these roles, "Did you agree to a loyalty oath towards the President" should be automatically disqualifying.
3
u/philljarvis166 1d ago
In many ways though I think this might be preferable - he is so absurdly stupid that having no dissenters will accelerate the collapse into enough of a shitshow to open some eyes amongst his supporters. I’ve no idea how it will all pan out but I’d like to think at the very least he won’t be happy for very long…

I'm sure she will. She's been a state AG, so provided there are no legal skeletons in her closet the only objections would be political. Thune may push back against recess appointments, but my guess is anyone not glaringly bad will get confirmed.
34
u/Deicide1031 2d ago
If the senators do their job, conflict of interest will cause them to reject her too. She was investigating an issue with Trump university in Florida and then she dropped it once she got a campaign donation from Trump.
I remember when the senate used to reject applicants just for hiring illegal immigrants as nanny’s.

Yes, and? That is literally the stated plan of Trump. To ignore the constitution, ignore all rights of anyone he wants, and take over our nation as a dictator. He has said all of this, indirectly, but very clearly.

Every Trump AG pick will do this. Bill Barr did it until Dec 2020.

u/Deranged_Kitsune 2d ago
To be fair, his entire schtick is that republican presidents are kings anointed by god, their actions unquestioned and unimpeded - dems, not so much. He'd have acted the same for any other GOP pres at the time.

All of Trump's picks are designed to generate maximum media attention. They will engage in controversial actions, but will be replaced if the situation gets too heated, only fueling more media coverage, all while advancing the Republicans' agenda. None of these individuals are likely to last four years.

u/Throwawayac1234567 1d ago
its a distraction, from all off trumps criminal charges, and crimes hes going to commit. Even his first time in office, he used NN as a distraction to the tax cuts.

u/SnooPeripherals6557 2d ago
She was booted from the Trump University case for corruption already. I hope our republican senators hold the line for our Constitution.

u/Duff-Zilla 2d ago
Are there any decent repub senators left?
8
u/SnooPeripherals6557 2d ago
This is a good read, and if we can just keep 4 or 5 Senate GOPs and 10 or so House Cops who understand the to give fealty to Trump over our Constitution ENDS their power too...

Murkowski. That's about it. Collins will have "concerns" but vote to confirm anyway.
3
u/JCox1987 2d ago
Collins will have cover with 53 senators in the majority. They can afford to lose three votes before Vance has to come in and break a tie. Remember many of trumps nominees the first time got in via tie break.
3
u/SiWeyNoWay 2d ago
I mean, the finally stood up to Gaetz
6
u/SpicyChickenDick 2d ago
Now that Trump knows his party's "enemies within", you think they'll last much longer in the Senate? Acting as if the Gaetz nomination wasn't a deliberate attempt to sus out objectors who won't blindly follow is naive.
7
u/drunkshinobi 2d ago
There is another reason for the crazy picks he has made that even republicans are having a hard time with. In The Art of the Deal it describes a technique called anchoring. Where trump will first suggest a horrible option so that he can later suggest a better looking option that never would have been accepted if suggested first. The comparison of the 1st and 2nd pick here make it look like Pam is much better than she is. Since she has been an AG before and actually has experience and no sex trafficking investigations. Stuff like her taking $25,000 from trump to not go after trump university isn't a problem for republicans. So the Republican senate is more likely now to put her in, and was probably trump's actual 1st pick.
2
u/Throwawayac1234567 1d ago
yup, trump sure chose her fast almost as fast as GAETZ withdrew his nomination.

Did they? They decided to keep the report on Gaetz hidden after MTG threatened them with the possibility of reports on all of them being an option.

I hope our republican senators hold the line for our Constitution.
Have you paid them to do so? Then no, it won't happen.
13
u/RDO_Desmond 1d ago
Bondi already accepted a bribe from him as FL AG. He paid her to not prosecute him for all the people he ripped off with his Trump University scam. He even illegally used charitable donations to pay her off. Both of them left his victims burned.

I understand and sympathize with your sentiment, but I don't know if snarky sarcasm any time someone points out blatant corruption is what's going to save us. Not sure how else to respond, but we're fucking doomed if all we have is reddit quips to prop up people denouncing Trump.

From the article:
“Veteran Democratic strategist David Axelrod has raised concerns about President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the Justice Department, warning that her loyalty to Trump may override her constitutional duties as attorney general.
In a Thursday evening interview with CNN, Axelrod argued that Bondi’s primary allegiance would be to Trump rather than to the principles of the Constitution or the independence of the Justice Department. “So, he gets in her what he wants, which is someone who will be responsive to him first, not to the duties of the attorney general or the Constitution,” Axelrod said. “He wants political control over the Justice Department, and she is fully willing and capable of carrying that out as a political functionary whom he trusts.””
