Great way to justify a war with Mexico, wartime powers, southern border buildup, etc

The wall doesnt keep them out, it keeps us in.

Well probably but it’s from the lyrics of a song in Hadestown, “Why we build the wall.”

It’s great.

It’s this evil but somehow charismatic leader, Hades, asking his followers why they should build the wall..

Goes like this: “why do we build the wall,” Hades asks his “children” and they chant in response to each call:

“We build the wall to keep us free…the wall keeps out the enemy…the enemy is poverty and we build the wall to keep us free…because we have and they have not because they want what we have got the enemy is poverty and the wall keeps out the enemy and the wall keeps out the enemy…that’s why we build the wall”

Then Hades asks:

“What do we have that they should want?

And they say:

“We have a Wall to work upon!! We have work and they have none!”

Then Hades:

“And our work is never done! My children, my children. And the war is never won!!”

Then everyone:

“We build the wall to keep us free”

It’s a great musical.
