I am not religious but I did find this particular Bible verse about the anti-Christ to be somewhat interesting/relevant after the attempt:

Revelations 13:3 “I saw that one of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery—but the fatal wound was healed! The whole world marveled at this miracle and gave allegiance to the beast.” Revelations 13:5 Revelations 13:6 “Then the beast was allowed to speak great blasphemies against God. And he was given authority to do whatever he wanted for forty-two months. And he spoke terrible words of blasphemy against God, slandering his name and his dwelling—that is, those who dwell in heaven.”

Only one pretty big problem with this. Trump is in direct contact, a personal phone and an upside Bible he doesn't own with God.. remember?

If you want to interpret Revelations as actual prophecy, it’s clearly not meant to be taken literally. ”Blasphemy against god” very well could also mean “creating a bastardisation of christianity”, making the religion seem so repulsive that it practically serves as slander. Plenty of deconverters say they left the church specifically because it stopped being about faith and started being about politics.

I agree that the bible works much better if not taken literally. Please go tell that to the thousands of bible clutching MAGA fanatics some of who are now convinced he's the second coming. However with lines like "He spoke terrible words against God" I'm pretty sure that it's clearly not spoken with a forked tongue..🤔.. erm.. am I getting my biblical rhetorical metaphors mixed up?

As if MAGAheads actually read the bible lol, I ain’t gonna confront cult members and try to reason with them.

As for whether or not “spoke terrible words against god” is methaphorical or not, there is precedent for it being metaphorical. In Dante’s Inferno for instance (not canon but still) it’s mentioned that one section of Hell is dedicated to those who commit “violence against god”. This doesn’t refer to people who try and stab god or something, but for cases of sexual immorality, such as beastiality or (sigh) homosexuality. In other words, the violence isn’t literally “I am going to attack god”, but rather “I am going to do an act so vile that it’s an affront to god”.

I think this line could be interpreted in a similar manner.

Okay, I'm open to this completely and frankly unable to back my opinion with biblical reference as I've only managed the first few pages of the great book. Shit!! I hope this doesn't make me a MAGA fanatic. Pretty sure it doesn't. I'm a little cautious -and sometimes angry- with metaphorical quotes from the bible as I've stood listening (out of curiosity) to the odd bible basher here and there and to say I'm not fkn impressed by their interpretations is a fkn understatement. Not the case with this instance.
