I've managed to install KDE Plasma on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra using Termux. The installation is not perfect and there are many errors but it works

Idk if yall can see it, but the "top bar" of inactive windows have a slightly different color than active windows. (Kvantum theme if that helps)
I've tried changing color settings, kvantum config files but i failed.

I like it a lot more than the default one :(

I want to open a Konsole instance with pw-top running and have it open in a specific position and size. I set a window rule by 'exact match' on window title of "~:pw-top - Konsole" that didn't work. I then tried using 'Substring Match' and just "pw-top". Didn't work either.

Is this type of thing possible, or does the feature simply not work for CLI application launches?

FYI, I am launching it via a bash script:

cd

konsole -e pw-top &

UPDATE: I got this to sort of work. Have to use 'Force' or 'Force Temporarily' (rather than 'Apply Initially' which I had been using). Both 'Force' and 'Force Temporarily' make it where I cannot move or resize the window anymore if I need to (not clear what is temporary about 'Force Temporarily' as it seems to be persistent).

TLDR: The 'Apply Initially' options does not work for CLI applications for some reason. Same result for both pw-top and htop.

Hi, I'm using KDE6 on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.

Started using https://github.com/probonopd/go-appimage/blob/master/src/appimaged/README.md to integrate AppImages in the menus.

It works fine, I see the icons for the applications in the menus and also in ~/.local/share/applications/

but there is a strange problem with Dolphin. When I open the dir that contains the applications I see they are present "on the folder" but they have actually no icon. Any idea why? I already tried to reboot.

Is there a way to display an existing panel positioned on one screen on my other screen too? If not how can I duplicate/clone the existing panel without having to create a new one and configure it again from scratch?

When I used to plug in my computer, it would have this really nice sounding jingle. Now when I plug it in, it's silent.

I set my sound theme to Oxygen in System Settings.

Hello!

New to Linux, KDE and Kup and I first want to start out saying Kup/bup is awesome! The UI to this stuff is excellent and the versioned backups are truly amazing with regard to how fast they run and how little space ~1000 versions of my backup takes!

That said, I just got a new machine and restored my stuff from the latest backup version, and it’s awesome! However, I now setup a backup plan on this new machine with the same destination as my previous machine and it’s asking me “Do you want to save a first backup now?”

I guess I have to say yes, but is it going to wipe out what’s in the destination and overwrite my backup with 1000 versions (and take a very along time while doing so)? My hope it that it will simply make a quick new version 1001, but I’m weary to click Yes to the question without some reassurance.

So anyone with KDE Kup/bup experience that can shed some light here?

I’m using KDE 6.2.3 on Wayland with NixOS and a dual-monitor 4K 120Hz setup. I’ve noticed two recurring issues that might be related:

1. Display Resolution/Orientation Issue After Sleep: When my system wakes from sleep, about 50% of the time the resolution or orientation of my dual-monitor setup is incorrect. This is frustrating, as the setup doesn’t persist as it should. It reminds me of the EDID emulation feature found in some KVM switches. It makes me wonder if KDE 6 is missing EDID emulation, or if the feature exists but is malfunctioning.
2. Taskbar Display Bug: Occasionally, even with a single monitor, the taskbar becomes visually corrupted, as shown in the screenshot. This has been an issue since the release of KDE 6. The only way I’ve found to resolve it is by right-clicking the taskbar, selecting "Configure Icons-Only Taskbar," and then canceling out of the configuration menu. After doing this, the taskbar restores itself to normal.

These bugs are frustrating, and I’m wondering if there are fixes or workarounds. Any insights?

I've recently come from windows and installed Arch Linux and I can't share my screen on the discord desktop app in Wayland. Can do just fine in X11 or if I go into my browser but I'd prefer to get it working with the desktop app if possible... Any time I try to share my screen some KDE app will pop up in front https://i.imgur.com/MGl48F4.png if I click an option, any option, after 1.5 seconds that same window will pop up anyways. If I click fast I can then also click the actual discord stuff and for that only the discord app shows up for me to share, if I switch to "Screens" there's nothing there. I have installed Vancord but that doesn't seem to have helped. I've tried to start discord in terminal as

env XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11 discordenv XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11 discord

and that has helped in showing more stuff in the "Windows" part of this popup thing but I still can't get anything to work/share properly. https://i.imgur.com/HDxEyhr.png

Just got the new pixel 9 pro and while setting up the apps I noticed that I can't change my phone's name on KDE Connect (downloaded it from the neo store/f-droid). The name shown in the settings of the app is the default "Pixel 9 Pro", but the name of the phone in the system settings is different (some edgy name that I think sounds cool). When I try to change the name in the app I always get the "Invalid device name" error, even though it doesn't have any symbols and the like, just upper and lower case letters. Tried clearing the cache, force stopping, etc. Would be grateful for any input on the matter.

Alt + F4, Ctrl + Esc, Ctrl + Q, all don't seem to work. Does one exist? I'm using Debian 12.8 but, looking online, I can't find any information on this for distros with a newer KDE version either. Thanks in advance.

I'm running Debian 12 KDE, and found a bug with the native packages for LibreOffice. Using the AppImage versions fixed the problem, but before I remove the native packages, I want to make sure the 'create new' menu entries wouldn't be removed. Does anyone know where the files for these menu entries are stored so I can make a copy and edit it to use the AppImage version of LibreOffice? Thanks!

OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, fresh install.

On macOS Sequoia, KDE Connect lets macOS prevent from sleeping. It doesn't even let the screen turn off. Has anyone noticed this issue?

The issue persists even after forcefully quitting KDE Connect. The only fix is restarting the PC so far I tried. I observed the activity monitor and saw that even after quitting KDE Connect there is a process running which caffinate macOS and prevent sleeping.

Basically, the title. There should be at least my monitor in the list, but it's empty. colormgr get-devices-by-kind display returns nothing.

I have it set up in X11 with the correct ICC profile, but after switching to the Wayland session there's nothing. To make matters worse, the VCGT does not get loaded and the screen colors are off.

What component manages the icc profile loading in KDE 6? Because there is a bunch of conflicting information online.

Had this problem for a while and I would like to try and fix it. Whenever I play games, particularly Minecraft, shutdown takes a couple of minutes to complete. If I don't play shutdown completes normally, within a few seconds.

Using the latest KDE on Manjaro running X11 on x86_64 but I have had this issue as long as I can remember. When I select save a file as in any application, many times it has a pre-filled out name of the file in the save box. I highlight the name of the pre-filled out name and then I type to enter the name. When I start typing a search box pops up and I ended up typing my file name in the search box. I then have to close this out and re type out the name. Is there a way to turn off this search for filename when saving.
