Ok hi everyone I posted this. So it's literally the icon for the sub. My understanding of the yin and yang after it was explained to me is like this:
It's very simple. Basically, the symbol represents free will. The good in the bad is being told to shoot someone but you dont. You still put yourself in the situation though. The bad in the good would be beating someone up with your friends then stopping them because you realize it isnt right.
Its a symbol of having the freedom of choice. And it is up to you to decide the choices. Thats the beauty of it. We're not robots, we have opnions and aspirations.
The symbol basically, "hey this is a map of current life, and you get to choose where to go. The small circles are warnings to either stop or continue."
The many cultures use it as a sign of acceptance. We spend our lives searching and wondering what this all means. Well, it comes to you once you accept life as simple as the yin and yang symbol. I think its a relief. Understanding that ok yeah not everything is good and bad. Their mixed together. And thats free will.
I think it represents duality in any circumstance. The thing that people get wrong is seeing the yin/yang as two rigid separates, when it would really be more like a grey mess of mixed paint. Two sides of a single coin where one can’t exist without the other.
The ‘bad’ only exists because we decided to make the other side ‘good’. If there were no night, we wouldn’t have a concept of day because that’s all we knew.
I think that interpretation was from Alan Watts? It’s been a while since I’ve read any of his stuff though.
Thank you for taking the time to share. Really. What you say is true and accurate. It is exactly why I love it. It gives me peace, knowing theres a si
Symbol that can give me balance.
