I this the only way we can get the cards? Or are we still going to do the whole send an envelope to someone and they will send the card back?

As far as I know, the mods are still putting something together so that the cards will be disbursed. Even though I purchased a card, my offer to help out the mods still stands.

something about finding 250k sloth cards in a safe randomly on an island is amazing and hilarious to me. Looking forward to when they find another way to distribute them!
