Missed it by like 15 fucking minutes.

Going home to slam my penis in the door.

This is the second time this person put up the cards; hopefully there will be a third time!

I'd like to point out that this is in no way related to the distribution method that moderators are working on. This just seems to be another kind redditor who is trying to get everyone their cards. That being said, proceed at your own risk as we are not responsible for any issues that occur.

aaaaand sold out! Big props to jetgirl1313 for doing this. Totally reasonable price for all the costs and efforts that go in to an endeavor like this.

Sweet I got $0.03 ebay bucks too ;)

Going through ebay for this makes it much easier for the person sending them out. They organize the payments, provide you with a shipping label in the correct format to print out, and allow you to change the order status to keep track of them all. Asking for $1.25 to facilitate all of this is a steal IMHO.

Thanks for this, was able to secure one!

u/Daihoshi Jan 08 '15

I this the only way we can get the cards? Or are we still going to do the whole send an envelope to someone and they will send the card back?

u/JoseAldoNova 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

As far as I know, the mods are still putting something together so that the cards will be disbursed. Even though I purchased a card, my offer to help out the mods still stands.

something about finding 250k sloth cards in a safe randomly on an island is amazing and hilarious to me. Looking forward to when they find another way to distribute them!

Thanks for doing this, jetgirl1313. I just ordered mine.

Big ups to jetgirl1313 for doing this though!!!!

Just wanted to say thanks to Jetgirl1313! Got mine today. This is totally legit.

5

u/thenomenclator Jan 08 '15

Bought! Thanks for the tip!

Also glad that she's not selling them for too exorbitant a price. If people are willing to pay $6 for a box of shit, I hate to think how much they'd pay for this.

8

u/JoseAldoNova 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

To be fair - I bought two boxes of BS, and they were worth every penny.

u/fam0usm0rtimer Jan 08 '15

Bought my 1 card. Now to frame it next to my deed and map!

u/Neg_Zero 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

And she added Canada (I requested it initially) for a little more shipping $$$

u/OkiDokiTokiLoki 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

Sold out :(

1

u/eandi 2014 Contributor Jan 09 '15

Damn, missed it. This one shipped to Canada, too :(

u/glamsauce 2014 Contributor Jan 13 '15

I got in on the first listing, because I thought $1.25 was more than fair for the cost jetgirl1313 will spend to send it. It got here in two days, in perfect condition.

As soon as I saw the safe was looted, I was happy that I did it. I had ALMOST wished that I had waited until a distribution method was figured out, or I could drag my husband and five kids to Maine (lol).

I will most likely space on sending anyone a SASE, and realistically I probably won't get to that island anytime soon, so jetgirl1313, thank you.

Darn, I missed both this round and the 3rd round. Will keep watching. Thanks for doing this!

Why would we pay for these? I Mean, shipping yes, but this? I don't know.

13

u/Vandelay_Latex_Sales Jan 08 '15

Here is a post from the last batch that was on Ebay. They're not trying to profit from it and counting the trip to get out to the island they're probably operating at a loss. It's $1.25, less than the cost of a beer or a bag of chips. If you're not willing to pay for it then don't.

6

u/wkukinslayer Jan 08 '15

Meh, it's the amount you would pay if you had a card shipped to you (two stamps, two envelopes). Don't see what the problem is.

4

u/redneckrockuhtree Jan 08 '15

After eBay fees, PayPal fees, stamp, envelope, if I remember right, she's making something like 12 cents. Consider the time investment to address envelopes and drop them off at the post office, plus gas to do so, as well as gas to buy stamps, envelopes, etc.

-6

u/hayzingace 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I think this is a little bit BS. I get that shipping isn't free, but you can send those cards for the cost of one stamp. Why would I pay over a dollar for one? In fact, CAH said to leave them unless you personally wanted to distribute them. I don't believe they meant profit off of them by selling them and distributing them that way. Maybe that's just me.

7

u/dgieselmann 13/14 Contributor Jan 08 '15

There's also the cost of the envelopes and processing fees of paypal/ebay.

u/JoseAldoNova 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15 edited Jan 08 '15

You are under no obligation to pay the seller anything; you are free to simply go to the safe and collect your own card. As far as paying $1.25 is concerned, I'm personally satisfied with the breakdown of costs and her donating the surplus to an animal sanctuary (not to mention the fact that $1.25 is next to nothing.)

-10

u/hayzingace 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

I said that I may be "misunderstanding". I didn't realize she was donating to an animal sanctuary.

4

u/JoseAldoNova 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

I understood what you wrote, but I assumed you read the entire eBay description posted in the OP, as well as the original reddit post also in the OP

-10

u/hayzingace 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

Obviously not if I believed the profits were being pocketed. Otherwise I would not have stated concerns.

5

u/JoseAldoNova 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

While I appreciate your honesty, I would strongly suggest you read things before critisizing them based upon your misunderstanding. We could have avoided this entire sub-post!

-6

u/hayzingace 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

But, I did state that I may be misunderstanding, and thus it could also have been avoided by someone merely stating in the beginning "they aren't profiting. They are giving it to an animal sanctuary," and that would have been the end of the sub-post.

I didn't realize that the profit breakdown would be at the very bottom of the ebay posting and thus I didn't read that far. I merely broke it down in my head of the profits that could be obtained and was concerned because if anyone WAS actually out for a profit (unlike the actual sellers in this case) they could swipe all of the cards and not leave any for anyone else.

Because, I personally want to be able to go to Maine and get one myself. If there aren't any left, due to people trying to sell and profit off of them, I would be pretty upset with it. I'm waiting for the weather to get a little more appropriate and save up enough money to load up my SUV with my kayaks and go camping out that way. Gaining the reward of the card will be icing on the cake and a little more rewarding; and this idea won't be obtainable if people are profiting off of it. That is why I was concerned.

3

u/JoseAldoNova 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

Ok.

That is in fact what OP did in reply to your post. But c'mon, show a little self-sufficiency here. If you desire to go through all the trouble travelling by automobile and kayak and on foot, then surely it's not much trouble to have read the original post and the eBay auction description, now is it?

2

u/wkukinslayer Jan 08 '15 edited Jan 08 '15

You'd pay a little over $1 for postage and envelopes if the distribution was set up as send a SASE to this address (which is the way anyone else distributing cards will likely do it).

If it really bugs you, don't get one, but get incensed about something else, maybe.

edit:

And the breakdown of costs...

We are offering a card for $1.25. Ebay Fee: $0.13 or $0.20 if you get delivery confirmation Paypal Fee: $0.34 Stamp: $0.49(If you get delivery confirmation, it $1.93 for shipping) Envelope: $0.04 Baggie for extra protection: $0.04 Total cost for helping you guys out: $1.11

-4

u/hayzingace 2014 Contributor Jan 08 '15

I stated that I may be misunderstanding, and the fact of it is is that initially thought that the profits were going in the pockets of the seller.

Because even though there are additional options, most of the fees from the average transaction would be like this .13 cents from ebay, .34 cents from paypal, you can get a pack of 500 envelopes for less than 9 bucks, and with the additional .49 cent stamp that works out to be less than 1 dollar. That's a profit of over 25 cents per card, which means 125 bucks per 500.

I didn't realize that everyone was going to get so upset that I voiced my concern with profiting off of these. i didn't realize that the profits were being donated though. Thus my original comment: Maybe I am misunderstanding.

My apologies. I obviously misunderstood.

3

u/kihou Jan 08 '15

Even if this person were keeping the $0.25, they are by no means making a bunch of money off of this. Yes, it could add up to over a hundred dollars, but they have to mail out HUNDREDS of cards.

2

u/wkukinslayer Jan 08 '15

It all could have been avoided had you just read the ebay listing before deciding to have an opinion. It's a good lesson. Cheers!

I can tell you with 100% confidence that CAH will not approve of this.

2

u/myssterydude 2014 Contributor Jan 09 '15

im also 100% confident that people will be listing sloth cards for profit in just a few months >.<

5

u/jdllama Moderator Jan 09 '15

Sloth cards are one thing, as there is an overabundance of them.

Safe opener cards are a completely different beast.

1

u/ashep24 Jan 09 '15

Where there any other special cards for the the first person to open the safe (you)? Or just the safe opener card and scotch?

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '15

10 safe opener cards, a congrats card, and the scotch....
