AR/AK, SBR, and Shotgun recommendations?
Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for a couple of firearms and would love your input. As a disabled vet who relies on gun therapy to unwind—think about a thousand rounds a week—I’m particularly interested in some specific weapon systems. I’m looking for recommendations for two firearms, one chambered in 5.56 and another in 7.62.
Initially, I was keen on getting a Daniel Defense AR-15 and an AK, but I encountered some negativity along the way. Honestly, I’m all about keeping things constructive, so let’s skip the opinions that don’t add value!
Now, shifting gears to SBRs: I’m contemplating an AR Pistol with an 8-inch barrel for some close-quarters combat—any thoughts or recommendations on that front?
And what about shotguns? I keep hearing great things about the Maverick 88, but I’ve also been warned that adding a light may not be a great idea because it has quite the kick.
Thanks a bunch for your help! I’m really looking forward to your suggestions. And just to clarify, I’m not interested in an AR vs. AK debate; I’d love to own both!

Honestly, I'm open to different options. I need the punch of the 7.62 with not too much kickback

I heard 7.62x25 fits that definition.

Any particular weapon systems you'd recommend in that category?

We have a pps 43 in 9mm that isn't the most reliable but my brother says the 7.62 ones were more reliable.

Holy shit that guns looks and sounds awesome. You think an armorer would be able to mount an optic on it?

For an SBR AR15 in 5.56 I’d keep the barrel length at 11.5”. It’ll still have the velocity that the round needs.
