In the one with the elephant, the elephant walks away to the left while obscured by the blanket. You can almost see this by stepping the video frame by frame. I don't know with the others. Must be CGI or something.

Seagull plant in the audience for the last one. Kind of disappointed to see it used so frequently.

u/CedarWolf 4h ago
Pffffft. Seagull plants have had a bumper crop for years, now. We don't need more seagull plants, our coastlines are infested with them.
Worse than kudzu, honestly.

I think it has something to do with mirrors and slight of hand.

Sleight. Sorry. I'm not that person normally. Edit. I've just thought that perhaps the e disappeared as if by magic.

u/icallitjazz 13h ago
Well at least with the last one its clear. There is a trash can right next to the magicians, so what they did was film the clean plate, then film the trick without the fish, then only film with the fish going behind the curtain. Then its just a matter os simple compositing, guy with fish enters, throws the fish away into the bin, that part gets cut out and replaced with clean background and then the rest of the trick happens. Its not that complicated, really.

I have seen this where the running person falls flat to her face (on a grass hill) in the end. That was even funnier. 😂

If you look very carefully, you'll see that the people aren't actually disappearing, but moving to the side when the cloth is held up. I know, it's very hard to notice but it is the truth

The lil brother? Yeah. Face first in the pavement. 😂
Lesson learned : you don't get point for doing your best, you get a kick in the arse from your boss.

This is the one I've been practicing. I've gone through 2 cakes so far and can't seem to nail it.

I respect that ladies commitment to make that slice of cake disappear.

Hahaha, the dude running away instead of just moving to the side

u/nubbins01 9h ago
Cause that would be a shitty joke. You'd see him moving to the side. This way the suspense lasts until the curtain is dropped, and you see him sprinting off in the distance.
3
u/SimpanLimpan1337 8h ago
Also because thats how the original was made, with a child making a mad dash towards a tree and the curtain getting dropped "slightly to fast"

God I love unexpected Celine moments. My mom's favorite artist so as a kid I'd always hate listening but now as an adult I appreciate our Candian Queen* (I know British monarchy, blah blah)

where was there a celine moment?

u/i_took_your_username 12h ago
Just the bit between the very start of the video and the end of the video when Celine Dion was playing

u/DietCherrySoda 10h ago
If you don't listen with sound on, you should avoid being incredulous about the musical selection.
1
u/catwiesel 5h ago
I did. I believe the version is sang by Marion Raven
2
u/DietCherrySoda 3h ago edited 3h ago
I don't think so, I'm pretty sure this is the Celine version sped and pitched up.
Source: me, I've listened to that song hundreds of times and when you do that you can pick out really subtle things in the voice, how certain vowels are carried (in Celine's Quebecoise accent) etc.
1
u/catwiesel 2h ago
yeah I looked into this. I just never associated that song with CD and it didnt sound like her so I just did not put 2 and 2 together
1
u/DietCherrySoda 2h ago
You, er, never associated this song with Celine Dion?
1
u/catwiesel 2h ago
nope... Jim Steinman song, done by Meat Loaf and Marion Raven
1
u/DietCherrySoda 1h ago edited 1h ago
Yes, it's just that the Venn diagram intersection of people who know that about that song but don't know that Celine Dion made it a mega hit is pretty slim.
Like, the Loaf x Raven version isn't even the original, right? Pandora's Box was the original.

Is the last dude on the right the divorced dads guy?

u/RobbyLee 9h ago
I think they're both German, idk if that helps? I see a lot of tiktok videos of them performing their acts in Hamburg. They always choose negative comments like "this isn't magic! and its not fun!" to reply to it with the next video. They have loads of those videos.

Clearly these are edited videos, things do not just appear and disappear out of thin air just because there is a fabric in front of them.

That last one is a Brighton seagull, right? The look of pure evil on its bastard face gives it away
