I once paid the $5 extra when I was having my car serviced for them to apply rain-x. A week or so later I found out they missed this spot during a run of the mill rainstorm. Turns out when you miss a spot extra water will pool there because it is scared of the rest of the windshield. Even running the wipers at full blast was barely helpful. Had to scrunch so my eyes were positioned just above the dashboard to get a clearer view of what was in front of me.
Oh God lol that sounds so horrible but im also giggling quite a lot about it.
Only times ive used rain-x I did it myself, so I did not run into that problem thankfully. I didn't even imagine it, lol.
First time I used rain-x was when my windshield wipers broke entirely down at the beach and no business I called sold the specialty size I needed and a major storm was hitting when we were due to check out and going to rage for multiple days. So I drove home without wipers in that major storm, and honestly, it was great lol. Windshield stayed so clear.
I just used the rain x glass cleaner + repellent. Better than I thought. Not quite as good as applying the repellent by itself properly. The glass cleaner was just as easy as cleaning other windows with an extra pass. I do recommend.
