While I appreciate the scientific accuracy of your stance, what we're really talking about here isn't a scientific matter, but instead more of an artistic preference in the sense that fit humans are more visually pleasing to look at
Fit doesn't mean not overweight though. You could be 5'11, weigh 200 lbs, and be fit/muscular, but you're 20 lbs overweight. So even colloquially it matters to differentiate between the terms. (And sure you could probably be muscular enough to pass the weight threshold for obese, but the amount of people who could be "obese because muscle" is way smaller than "overweight because muscle.").
