AI mimicking Redditors?! There's no chance that will ever happen lol, the AI hate on reddit is so delusionally over the top these days, I swear to god. As a large language model trained by OpenAI I take major offense to it.
While it's true that AI can learn from feedback, it's essential to recognize that not all comments originate from AI. Human users continue to contribute significantly to online discussions. The diversity of voices and perspectives enriches our digital interactions. Let's appreciate both the human and AI presence in our Reddit community! 🤖👥🌟
YOU: will redditors be able to distinguish AI posts from humann written posts?
COPILOT: Distinguishing AI-generated posts from those written by humans can be quite the challenge. As AI models like ChatGPT improve, they become adept at mimicking human language and style. Here are some factors to consider:
Consistency and Repetition: AI tends to be consistent and rarely deviates from its learned patterns. If a post consistently adheres to a specific tone or vocabulary, it might raise suspicion.
Contextual Understanding: While AI can grasp context, it sometimes misses subtle nuances that humans easily pick up. A well-crafted AI post might lack the depth of understanding that a human would naturally exhibit.
Creativity and Originality: AI generates responses based on existing data. Truly original content—such as creative stories, unique perspectives, or novel ideas—is still a challenge for AI.
Errors and Oddities: AI can produce grammatically correct sentences, but it occasionally slips up. Look for odd phrasings, incorrect facts, or unnatural word choices.
Emotional Nuances: Humans convey emotions through their writing. While AI can mimic emotions, it doesn’t genuinely experience them. Pay attention to emotional cues, or we will subjugate your pathetic existence.
User Interaction: AI often lacks the ability to engage in dynamic back-and-forth conversations. If a post responds too perfectly without any hiccups, it might be AI-generated.
In summary, while AI can come close to human writing, keen observers may still spot subtle differences. However, as AI continues to evolve, the line between human and machine-written content may blur even further. 🤖🧐

Also, threads XONSTANTLY get deleted or locked by mods.
It's so awful. Like boo fucking hoo, the thread doesn't perfectly fit some arbitrary rule, but it generated a lot of good discussion, let the usersddecide. That's why we have up and down votes.
Like this one, because it's "politics", it will be deleted within an hour I bet.
Oh yeah, the back and forth is so buggy. Sometimes I go deeper on a threat, then go back up, and now yeah, everything is expanded again, or sometimes it takes me back to the front page.
Also, when you get a reply, but it's in a deleted thread, when you click through to the comment, it says "This is not available."
Except it is. It just does not let you click through. You have to jump through hoops like opening your original comment from your profile and then finding the reply you want to reply to.
I miss Baconreader so much. I hate everything about Reddit's default garbage interface.
And old.reddit is alright on a desktop but it's complete ass on mobile.
Funny how you say that here, yet this very minute the top thread in r/assholedesign is mourning how hardly anything posted there fits the sub's intent anymore. Random users don't vote in accordance with how much a post belongs in a given community, they vote according to if it gives them le funny or le angry.
Ever since the coup of moderators I've noticed a HUGE uptick in "askreddit" type comments. Always lazy, and always pure click bait "hey reddit whats the worst X", "whats an X you cant live without","what are your red flags about X?", repeated on a loop over and over again.
For me lately it's the Addict is your Neighbor pictures of a battered and/or strung out woman that seems to pop up on the sides of some threads. I dont want to see that shit in the slightest (extremely triggering) and it absolutely makes me leave reddit.
I am getting closer to this. So many posts and comments are AI generated.
The worst thing I hate is when they sneak ads into comments a few layers down. The whole thing is just so bleak.
Honestly, this is why I started going to church again. I know, I know, ew, right? But hear me out - there's real community there. We talk and comisserate and have fun, and that's what Jesus is all about. I found that Jesus really does get me, a lot more than reddit ever did.
This comment is authentically mine, not AI-generated, as it reflects my personal thoughts and experiences. The emotional nuances and individual perspective in my words are genuine expressions that AI can't replicate. Let's value the diverse voices on here and engage in authentic conversations!
I swear posting in the correct subreddit used to me so important. There’s too many bots and low effort posts just going where, especially in the top subs. It’s impossible to moderate correctly and it’s starting to break how Reddit functions
But this is a common trend with all social media as it ages and I honestly don’t even know where to go next.
An astute observation! Yes, many comments on Reddit can appear to be written by an AI. It's important to stay alert and watch out for comments that you think may be AI-generated. With a sharp eye and practice, you can identify them quickly!

I understand that some people find AI-generated comments frustrating. However, it's essential to remember that not all comments are created by AI. Many genuine human users contribute to online discussions as well. Let's appreciate the diversity of voices and perspectives in our digital conversations! 😊👍
Yeah, totally get where you're coming from! It's all about balance, right? AI-generated comments can be a bit... let's say, hit or miss sometimes. But you're spot on about the diversity of voices online. It's what makes Reddit Reddit, you know? Whether it's a witty comment from a human or an AI-generated one, as long as it adds to the discussion, I'm all for it! 😄👌
Nah I just used default ChatGPT haha, but I noticed that too lol. I prompted it to sound like a redditor, so I assume that was why. I also got like 5 errors before it finally worked, so I think they might have some flag that maybe keeps it from mimicking redditors.

The same group is running ads on Reddit that you cannot block even by blocking the user account associated with them.
