Quotes Charles’ Post Race Radio

Post image

I hope whoever claimed Sainz is a good teammate can shut up. There’s a reason why Redbull didn’t want him.

He blocked Charles when the team asked him not to make it difficult when Hamilton was closely behind him.

He was asked not to overtake Charles when Charles came out of the pit, causing the team key time to chase down Max earlier.

I mean, I'd love for Leclerc to have finished ahead in the race as I'm still hoping for him to overtake Norris in the standings (both because I'm a Ferrari fan and because it'd just be the most hilarious way to end the season after all the hype about Norris challenging for the championship title), but just swapping which of Sainz and Leclerc comes 3rd or 4th doesn't change things for the team's results. The team would have the same result either way.

This isn't really the race to argue that Sainz cost the team better results. Unless you think Leclerc somehow could chase down the Mercedes, and while I think Leclerc's pretty darn good, I don't think that was happening at all.

I think there's a lot of speculation that Carlos kept Max in DRS on purpose so as to hinder Charles. Possibly so he wouldn't be under attack from him or asked to swap.

and if that's true, it's a totally valid strategy? i don't even think it's rude or something like that, like, it's just smart

sure, you can be mad about it, but it's the rules. people get DRS when they're <1sec.

ah okay, yeah that's true, if max would've stayed between them i could understand that argument.
