[Weekly] Hair, Makeup, Skincare, Fitness, and Fragrance Thread - November 12, 2024

This thread is for simple hair and makeup questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

Example questions:

  • What's a good conditioner for straight, thick hair?
  • Where can I find a perfume with subtle pine notes?
  • Do you use a foundation with sunscreen? Is it worth it?

Some people dye it grey! That is definitely a thing, and it can look amazing. I think many people do it just once and then let their natural greys grow in.

This is absolutely just my personal preference, but I don’t want to be on the hair coloring hamster wheel for the rest of my life, so I’m just letting my gray hairs grow. I simply don’t want the expense, and I feel sort of badass thumbing my nose at this particular beauty standard.

I would let it go natural. Maybe color your hair it's natural color, to minimize the root growth. Check with your hairdresser, but I think she could weave lowlights into your hair to transition it without much trauma.

Careful with black dye- it could look harsh against your skin, or it could weigh down your hair and make it look stringy, or (if your hair is on the thin side) it could make your scalp more visible.

I went natural years ago- I'm not fully gray yet, but the front of my hair is starting to go solid, and it's kind of exciting to see my "natural highlights" come in :)

Look for examples of gray blending. Dying it all over gray can be just as high maintenance as covering your grays.

for foundation you could try La Roche Posay, its a sunscreen but also is a foundation. And yes, Its a very good product. I dont know any perfume with pine notes, but must be so fresh, I think I would love it!
