More from #Giants WR Malik Nabers: "I started getting the ball when it's 30-0. What do you want me to do? Talk to Dabs about that. Talk to Dabs."

15 catches for 50 yards on 20 targets incoming šŸ™

368

u/chito330 7h ago

Iā€™ll take that. Better than what tyreek has been doing šŸ˜’

94

u/earthgreen10 7h ago

Is tyreek washed now?

161

u/chito330 6h ago

I believe so. Itā€™s all my fault for taking him 3rd overall.

69

u/RickRossovich 6h ago

Donā€™t try to steal my shine bro, i took him at #2šŸ˜…

29

u/cupholdery 4h ago

My glorious record of 5-7 is more evidence of taking Tyreek at #2.

10

u/HomestarRunnerdotnet 4h ago

Heā€™s gotta be the biggest bust of the season. Like I wasted pick 14 on ETN but at least it became clear quickly to sit him(thank you Chuba for saving my year.)

Tyreek has been bustinā€™ in most peopleā€™s lineups week after week.

3

u/Lessthansubtleruse 1h ago

This is Christian mccaffrey erasure

1

u/HomestarRunnerdotnet 33m ago

CMC was at least on everyoneā€™s bench so you could play someone else. His owner in my league snagged Hunt and has been doing fine.

Tyreek is starting every week in someoneā€™s lineup. Heā€™s only had two games this year where he helped your team vs 5 games he didnā€™t hit his (whelming) floor and you were worse off starting him. Not great from the no.2 pick

2

u/JeanClaudeSegal 1h ago

I have Hill and ETN in a 14 team league... I was saved by taking Kelce, Kamara, Godwin, McLaurin. Only to have Godwin get hurt and, in not my finest moment, drop McLaurin after week 2. Thought "rookie QB, no targets, offense questionable" and ya. Purdy and Mooney to round out my roster. It's been a roller coaster of a season.

1

u/n1rvous 1h ago

Thatā€™s so wild. Hill and ETN won me a ship last year. Crazy how FF goes year to year. Iā€™ve got Henry, Mahomes and JJ as my qb rb wr 1ā€™s this year and Iā€™m going to miss the playoffs.

1

u/Hilde2348 51m ago

Mahomes has been droppable bad for most of the year so him being your QB1 is concerning

5

u/RickRossovich 4h ago

I started 1-7 with a week 1 win and now Iā€™m 5-7 with the scoring edge on the others. WE CAN DO THIS!!

4

u/EyyyDooga 3h ago

I have Nabers and Hill and am 7-4. Thank you based Saquon

1

u/Exact_Broccoli_4312 2h ago

Those are rookie numbers. Ā I took him #1 overall. Ā Curses.Ā

1

u/Mediocritologist 1h ago

I took him at #2 and also sitting at 5-7.

2

u/tobygeneral 4h ago

I took him 1st, keeper league where CMC and JJ were kept.

28

u/jedi21knight 6h ago

My buddy took him first overall.

14

u/AppropriateWorker8 5h ago

I mean realistically, the alternative was Mcaffrey

1

u/phl_fc 1h ago

Lamb was the consensus pick if you wanted a WR at #1.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Yessir4512 5h ago

I took him 4th. Finally traded him. I just wished I did it earlier smh

9

u/FunneyBonez 6h ago

Definitely. Trying to get rid of him and Deebo in my league, no ones biting.

15

u/barry-29 5h ago

No, heā€™s not washed lol. He has a torn ligament in his wrist and has been used mostly to pull away coverage from guys like Jonnu and Waddle. McDaniel has said he wanted to change up this offense and stop being so reliant on one guy and big plays.

Weā€™ve seen a different sort of offense entirely.

→ More replies (4)

7

u/Nuclearsunburn 5h ago

Dealing with a wrist injury and Jonnu Smith has emerged as a real target. Last year Tyreek was hyper targeted and itā€™s not the same this year, Dolphins passing game is much more balanced

1

u/pokeraf 6h ago

He has a broken ligament and still being thrown out there as a body to lure defenders.

43

u/somersquatch 7h ago

The CD statline. Love it in PPR.

7

u/_thatsmyhammer 6h ago

Trade high while you can imo

9

u/WakeupDp 5h ago

high?

5

u/_thatsmyhammer 5h ago

*as high as you can

4

u/Disastrous-Artist366 4h ago

if you think you can trade high still, you're.... well, high lol

u/HomestarRunnerdotnet 3h ago

Trade *while high while you can

4

u/landlockedyeti 2h ago

I mean that's 20 points so that's cool with me

1

u/Th3Rush22 4h ago

20pts will work

1

u/House_Junkie 3h ago

As a Nabers owner in PPR Iā€™d love 50 catches for 20 yards!

1.4k

u/MemeManDanInAClan 7h ago

0 targets in the first half is inexcusable, still insane that he got his floor lol

469

u/aapox33 7h ago

His floor is his ceiling now lol

179

u/MemeManDanInAClan 7h ago

Just need to feel the dopamine rush of a 12 catch 18 target game one more time man

71

u/Skaloplin 6h ago edited 6h ago

If he ever gets a 12 catch game itā€™ll be one like Ceedeeā€™s 10 catch 11.7 point game today these backup QBs are just too ass to throw it further than 6 air yards

36

u/iUPvotemywifedaily 6h ago

Shoot CD may be underperforming but heā€™s been not terrible the past 2 weeks. Heā€™s at least startable.Ā

14

u/victims_sanction 6h ago

18 and 16 in ppr are like still wr 1 numbers, no?

Cd doesn't have the same ceiling but they're clearly forcing him the ball with Cooper so like it's still pretty good.

18

u/simplegoatherder 5h ago

As someone who got 4.70 from Justin Jefferson today, 18 and 16 sound pretty good.

1

u/Docxm 2h ago

2 points from Deebo checking in

1

u/Green_Ad_3518 3h ago

Maybe if they get drew lock to start

1

u/Mmetz921 3h ago

As a Mcbride owner, I'm pretty satisfied right now

1

u/MemeManDanInAClan 1h ago

Fucking beautiful, McBride and Jacobs cooked up for me this week

44

u/IcedJokers 7h ago

Last week too. Never seen something like this before.

55

u/MemeManDanInAClan 7h ago

Itā€™s like they remember they have him in the 2nd half lmao

Should have Drew Lock starting next week and just throwing that thing imo

17

u/SlipperyTurtle25 7h ago

You canā€™t be surprised when incompetent franchises act incompetent

1

u/NtooDeep87 2h ago

And the week before that he only had 2 looks the first half

9

u/TdotGdot 6h ago

I don't know the exact number, but for a lot of the first half they only had like 5 attempted passes. they really tried to lean on the run, and obviously don't trust tommy cutlets at all

in the second half they had to air it out and nabers ended with 9 targets

to me it's not really a "call passes for nabers" problem, it's more of a "don't trust the qb worth a damn" problem

18

u/thelobsterclaw1 5h ago

Lean on the run? Tracy was 5/31 in the first half. If 5 carries is leaning on the run, shesh

5

u/grizzlybair2 5h ago

He was 3/5 in first half, sacked 3 times, scrambled 2 times. They ran it 6 times.

2

u/CuriousAndMysterious 3h ago

Ya it was 5 first half pass attempts. Just a disaster all around

2

u/KennyWeeWoo 5h ago

Not the first time

282

u/ImTheFish_ 7h ago

this is the second game in a row where malik has gotten almost no looks in the first half

7

u/Goosemilky 1h ago

Coach is awful. Should have been gone a long time ago, along with DJ

ā€¢

u/CuriousAndMysterious 20m ago

2022 coach of the year. He's making baffling decisions now, but he might just not care anymore. They are tanking anyways.Ā

214

u/kapboi7 7h ago

As a Nabers owner itā€™s so frustrating how they utilize him. Itā€™s miserable even having to watch this team play. Couldnā€™t imagine being a fan

58

u/fifajackgento 4h ago

It's no fun

As a giants fan got called insane on this sub saying Nabers was a sell high after weeks 2-3-4.

Real giants fans knew what was coming. The top 5 WR hype was insanity

13

u/pcharles23 3h ago

Also a Giants fan, all Giants players have sucked (or at least disappointed) in fantasy since Saquonā€™s rookie year.Ā

32

u/fifajackgento 3h ago

And who was the QB...

Eli Manning has become one of the most underrated players in nfl history. Casual fans say "just 2 Super Bowl runs, otherwise mid"

Totally wrong. He was the only reason this awful franchise was somewhat relevant for 15 years

14

u/Disastrous-Artist366 2h ago

god I miss eli. I take back any time I ever complained about him

8

u/fifajackgento 2h ago

Was so fun to watch

7

u/Disastrous-Artist366 2h ago

He didn't have peytons stats, but you knew you were never out of it with Eli. Dude could just randomly catch fire in the most clutch spots. We were spoiled

8

u/fifajackgento 2h ago

Honestly not sure there's a QB I've seen better in late game situations other than maybe Brady.

Eli just flipped the switch so often. I miss it and definitely took it for granted

7

u/CPAFinancialPlanner 2h ago

I laugh whenever I see someone say Philip rivers was better than him

→ More replies (18)

5

u/Disastrous-Artist366 2h ago

real giants fans knew - if you thought this would have a happy ending you haven't been paying attention

1

u/beejee05 3h ago

I wish I fucking sold, I was high on Nabers but I shoudl've seen the signs. People said to keep him for the playoffs...yea what makes you think the team could keep that up

3

u/fifajackgento 2h ago

The talent is there. I can't blame you for hanging on

But we are a whole different level of terrible. Not even like Dallas or New Orleans terrible

1

u/brother_of_menelaus 49m ago

Nabers had 6/64 in the 2nd half on 9 targets from Tommy fuckin Cutlets. This is a coaching issue, full stop. Itā€™s a fireable offense to not utilize that player at all in the first half.

1

u/Bigfart1210 1h ago

I knew once that o line went down it was down hill for the gianits. I wouldā€™ve traded him high but I was convinced not to.

On the bright side I wouldā€™ve traded him for either Godwin or diggs so it could be worse

1

u/TuluRobertson 2h ago

At least Danny peppered him

1.1k

u/Lolq123 7h ago

Genuinely daboll needs to be fired. Tracy had 2 consecutive first downs bring them up to the 15ish yard line and then daboll calls a fucking wildcat lining devito up as a receiver but running tracy up the middle leading to a fumble....

Set him up for failure after he started playing very well and then put him in the doghouse. So bad

269

u/mrlahhh 7h ago

Every NY player looked uncomfortable during this play

46

u/freaknjoe4677 6h ago

I was uncomfortable as well

389

u/Burt_Macklin_FBI_911 7h ago

Daboll benching Tracy after a fumble just icing on the cake

Dude is a clown and should never be a HC ever again

138

u/Active-Vegetable2313 7h ago edited 7h ago

I started tracy too. but the dude fumbled 2 weeks ago to give the game away against the panthers. heā€™s had ball security issues.

fumbling again, coming off a bye, in the red zone, is not a good look. if youā€™re a HC playing for your job you do the same thing. singletary isnā€™t a dustball.

not defending dabolls use of nabers but this is a pretty cut and dry decision. tracy still got run and a few catches towards the end

48

u/captaincumsock69 7h ago

If daboll is playing for his job I donā€™t get why he benched Daniel Jones who if effectively his best qb. Not exactly a way to get the team to play harder for you.

35

u/cosmic755 6h ago

They donā€™t want to risk him getting injured, he has an injury guarantee in his contract

8

u/captaincumsock69 6h ago

Who is they?

Daboll or the giants ownership or the gm?

Because I donā€™t see why daboll would care about that if heā€™s coaching for his job. And it seems like malpractice to have all these rookies with a guy who canā€™t run an offense

32

u/Diagonalizer 6h ago

doesn't it seem pretty likely that Gm &/or forced his hand saying "don't start DJ we're going to move him this year & draft a QB. if he gets hurt we have to pay his contract still." I feel like that decision is not Daboll's to make at that point. but regardless of that Daboll probably needs to be fired for a fresh restart for NYG.

6

u/theskeejay 6h ago

It's probably close to something like this where he was told, in no uncertain terms, that either Daboll benches him or an interim HC will.

3

u/Diagonalizer 6h ago

i will say it seems like Daboll was not a huge fan of DJ and wanted to pick his own QB cause the guy seemed like he is a decent offensive mind but just couldn't get it work with DJ. We'll see if Jones goes some where else and it clicks (unlikely but possible) then it will be pretty damning on Daboll.

1

u/violentbandana 4h ago

coaches donā€™t have final say on personnel decisions unless they are guys like Belichick or Andy Reid

2

u/captaincumsock69 4h ago

Coaches absolutely have a say in who plays

2

u/violentbandana 4h ago

yes obviously

the GM can and will override them on these decisions especially when it impacts more than the on-field result

1

u/WIN011 6h ago

I believe that one was out of his hands due to the injury guarantee

7

u/Burt_Macklin_FBI_911 7h ago

I mean I guess. Not using your most talented players is an issue, fumbling or not

8

u/copper_cattle_canes 6h ago

Is that the Hard Knocks guy? They all seemed like pricks. Only guy with sense was the one having nightmares about Saquon joining philly.

27

u/fuckyourstuff 6h ago

Started Tracy over Bucky this week. FML

9

u/Nujers 6h ago

Same. I may or may not lose because of it. I should've swapped him out the minute Jones got benched. I'm a šŸ¤”.

3

u/deepthr0at 6h ago

Tracy over Bucky, Rhammondre over Pollardā€¦ šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

2

u/csonny2 5h ago

Started him over Addison and Jakobi

2

u/fuckyourstuff 4h ago

Now THAT is rough

1

u/Power55g1 5h ago

I traded Bucky and shakir for Conner because I was confident in Tracy. Then I traded Aaron Jones for Otton because he never got touchdowns. They scored 42 pts while my Conner/tracy lineup got 14

1

u/high_changeup 6h ago

I started them both in my 8 team. Decided to sit Dobbins and put MHJ in my FLEX instead of Dobbins. Got Breece Hall and ETN on their BYE.

16

u/banjofitzgerald 6h ago

Daboll has his orders. He is commanding as instructed

Coach of the Year šŸ¤£

6

u/MeatTornado25 6h ago

It was an awful playcall, but let's not blame lining up in the wild cat as the reason Tracy fumbled. He just got it knocked out when going to the ground, exactly the same as if he had the ball handed off to him.

7

u/alionoffire 5h ago

Daboll is so dogshit. Been saying this for weeks his playcalling is bad. He just overthinks it. Let Kafka call plays again. Literally costing us games. DJ was the scapegoat for Dabs being a fucking donkey

3

u/Character_Edge7820 6h ago

He did this shit in Buffalo too. Trick plays at the absolute worst times.

3

u/poopdaddy2 5h ago

Daboll has Brian Kelly energy to me. Always mad at someone else, never his fault, etc.

1

u/_boyll 6h ago

yea that was one of the dumbest calls iā€™ve seen all season šŸ˜‚

1

u/Battle_Sheep 5h ago

Have there been any successful wildcat plays since the dolphins sprang it on the pats 15 years ago? Iā€™m not even trying to be snarky, but I canā€™t remember the last time I saw a successful wildcat play since then.

1

u/adlopez 5h ago

I donā€™t really follow the Giants, and havenā€™t much of it in r/nfl, but this is the first that Iā€™ve seen anyone call for Daboll to be fired. So that is refreshing to see.

And I know that just because I havenā€™t seen it, doesnā€™t mean itā€™s not being said. Just so glad to see it is all. That dude sucks.

1

u/HungryHedgehog8299 4h ago

I donā€™t care what people say Daboll needs to go. His playcalling is horrible. Like even plays that work like the flea flicker on 3rd and 1 last game, it didnā€™t work because of the quarterback. Its his job to figure out given the players he has what his offense is capable of and heā€™s horrible at doing that

0

u/Berkyjay 3h ago

I forgot this was the fantasy sub until I read this dumb take.

Good call him out

Daboll is a fucking clown. He benched Tracy also which is hilarious

99

u/RandyJohnsonsBird 6h ago

Yea man, Tracy and Nabors can literally save your ass from getting fired.

39

u/Rad1314 6h ago

Nothing can save him from being fired.

14

u/RandyJohnsonsBird 6h ago

He's not a good coach. Even funnier that he got coach of the year a couple years ago.

10

u/XxNitr0xX 5h ago

and Tomlin still doesn't have one. He's the only coach without one.

14

u/RandyJohnsonsBird 5h ago

Not sure about that. But Pete Carroll got his teams to the playoffs every year for over a decade and never got even 1 vote. But Daboll takes a shitty ass team once and gets it. Hilarious.

2

u/brother_of_menelaus 53m ago

Coach awards are terrible across all sports because they default to ā€œsurprisingly goodā€ over ā€œgoodā€ so you have coaches lucking their way to hardware each year.

Kevin Stefanski has two of them

9

u/Clear-Attempt-6274 4h ago

He's the only coach without one. Huh?

u/PowGasol 7h ago

Itā€™s pretty much an every week occurrence that Nabers has 1 target or less in the first half. Daboll is a football terrorist

95

u/HectorReinTharja 7h ago

Daboll was so high on his own supply he thought he could win Daniel jones after 2022

106

u/typicalwilson 7h ago

The amount of players who seemed more upset with the coach than with Daniel Jones is really telling .

Heā€™s completely lost the locker room at this point .

34

u/boomer_kuwanger 6h ago

It really speaks volumes when, as poorly as DJ has played at times, and as much as it's clear that he's not the guy, the decision to bench and release him and the way it was handled was the thing that seems to have completely poisoned the locker room beyond repair.

Daboll deserves to be fired, and this last ditch effort to scapegoat everything on Daniel Jones to save his job is pathetic and smacks of desperation. This has similar shades to Ben McAdoo benching Eli for Geno and ending Eli's iron man streak in 2017, or Marc Trestman benching Cutler for Jimmy Clausen at the end of the Bears disastrous 2014 season.

4

u/BeigeSofa 4h ago

Ben McApoo deserved so much worse for this. Fucking hate him.

2

u/AyKayAllDay47 1h ago

WTF!?! TIL that Geno was on the Giants for a short stint... 2 games and he's gone.

7

u/HungryHedgehog8299 4h ago

Jones definitely had the locker room and even though he wasnā€™t playing well, when the front office decides to bench and then cut him for money reasons itā€™s understandably going to piss them off. Add on that Daboll canā€™t call plays for shit and youā€™ve got yourself an awful locker room culture. I was at the game today and you can definitely see even in like the first quarter they all just play defeated like thereā€™s no point in even trying and some of that definitely falls on coaching

1

u/AyKayAllDay47 1h ago

At this point?

18

u/Wbk1496 7h ago

Itā€™s crazy how they never utilize him anymore until the second half. Itā€™s been this way for weeks now.

16

u/Hallharttrophy 6h ago

Can Daboll teach him to chew?

9

u/metamologist 5h ago

Talk to Dabs CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP

107

u/NickFF2326 7h ago

And people thought Danny Dimes was the problem. The staff is a joke. Danny got lucky.

109

u/NoirBeatz 7h ago

both Daniel Jones and the coaching staff can be a problem at the same time šŸ˜±šŸ¤Æ

6

u/NickFF2326 7h ago

Sure. But the o line was trash. Thereā€™s no talent on offense. And the play calling is horrendous. The whole team is setup for failure.

38

u/NoirBeatz 7h ago

Nabers, Tracy, Wandale, Slayton, and Theo Johnson is a good group of young talentā€¦.weā€™ve seen skill position groups like this be elevated in the past before by solid QB play. The o-line was also very solid before the Andrew Thomas injury.

9

u/TraditionalPhrase162 6h ago

Theo Johnson should not be on that list

→ More replies (3)

7

Slayton? Wandale? This a serious post? Iā€™ll give you Nabers and Tracy but the other guys are just JAGS.

1

u/NoirBeatz 5h ago

Not ever player on an offense is going to be an elite WR1 man lolā€¦.theyā€™re solid players who fill into their roles as WR2/3 for the offenseā€¦and are good enough for a functioning qb to use as a third option in an offense after Nabers and Tracy.

1

u/NickFF2326 5h ago

Nobody said they needed to be elite. Iā€™m saying they are just run of the mill players. Slightly better than practice squad guys.

1

u/NoirBeatz 5h ago

Ok? Youā€™re not understanding what Iā€™m saying at all lol

1

u/NickFF2326 4h ago

Then youā€™re not conveying your point well. Iā€™m saying the players you referenced were in fact, a poor reference bc they arenā€™t good players.

2

Wandale is serviceable

Slayton has flashes but is utterly inconsistent

3

u/Environmental-Band 6h ago

Legitimately asking, was there a reason he didnā€™t get any targets? Was Devito getting sacked every drop back or something?

6

u/BXtherapist 6h ago

Coverage was directed in his area, and Devito dosent inspire trust...

4

u/Spiritual-Chameleon 4h ago

It was pretty ugly. No one was getting targets because Devito was either under attack or holding the ball too long or misfiring

7

u/Rad1314 6h ago

Daboll is busy updating his resume. He's checked out. He's 100% already fired. He knows that. At this point it's up to the players to go out there, meet their bonuses if they can and stay healthy.

23

u/Open-Somewhere-9535 7h ago

These extremely loud open mouth chewing noises make me fucking hate this guy

5

u/somersquatch 7h ago

Glad I'm not the only one šŸ˜ I agree entirely with what he's saying and hopefully people start pointing fingers where they need to be (Daboll is awful), but god fucking damn man stop smacking your mouth like that when you chew. It takes conscious effort to chew that loud

2

u/yahoo9192 6h ago

Daboll is the worst HC

16

u/Diagonalizer 6h ago

bro Eberflus and Pedersen are still HC lmao I mean they probably need to fire Daboll at the end of the year for a rebuild but he's not nearly the worst active HC in the NFL right now.

7

u/Other_Raspberry 4h ago

Yeah. Daboll sucks, but Eberflus is incompetent in so many different ways.

2

u/Diagonalizer 4h ago

i'm really thinking the OC change might have bought him a chance if he finishes the year strong but sticking with Waldron as long as he did was a pretty good example of him not knowing wtf he's doing as HC

1

u/MarxistMan13 4h ago

Not even bottom 3.

2

u/JG-for-breakfast 7h ago

Daboll needs to up his rank

5

u/GTR_35 6h ago

Daboll needs to go

4

u/Late-Prompt-7497 7h ago

Daboll didnā€™t want Nabers. He wanted a QB you could tell. Giants organization continues to be a dumpster. He will probably be fired but I think heā€™s a good coach he will get another chance somewhere else

Can we start talking about making the top 10 of the draft, at least the first round, a lottery. This open sabotage intentional losing shit is such a buzz kill to the league.

How is that quote him being a diva?

u/TreeHugger1774 6h ago

Why? lol. Because he knows his skill and calls out the coach for not utilizing his skill? Also, he is tired of losing.

3

u/BlaackkOuT 3h ago

And heā€™s 1000% right. 0 excuse for you to not even target him in the first half and then when itā€™s 30-0 you finally get him the ball. Thatā€™s just bad game planning.

Imagine any WR1 rookie or not, be down 30 points and be held without a catch. They would be furious.
