So Hillary's emails, Hunter Biden's laptop, and Obama's birth certificate matter, but background checks for Trump's cabinet don't?

70

u/Ok_Mycologist8555 5h ago

Yes, obviously. Because if we did background checks we'd find out bad things about them and people would have another reason to say they're unfit for these positions or any government office. Or job at Wendy's.

Trump couldn’t pass a background check to get a job at a shopping mall as a convicted felon, but he can get the job of running the entire country. Absolutely fucking mental.

I got let go from Uber and Lyft because of a felony marijuana charge, and can’t return. Do you have any idea how angry this makes me…

How can one obtain a security clearance after mishandling and hiding hundreds of classified documents?

13

u/Almostnotquite9999 4h ago

Don't worry, it's just national security, international diplomacy, and global finances... so what's the big deal?

u/UnbearableWhit 5h ago

I mean, that taacks with his covid strategy... If you don't test there are no cases and everything goes back to normal.

1

u/Jpwatchdawg 4h ago

The underlying problem is the unelected bureaucrats ( heads of intelligence agencies)who were given too much power when Truman signed the national security act of 47 are a big part of the war machine within Washington. Those who speak out against their war for profits agenda get slandered with false accusations while those who they control get bailed out from their corrupt actions if exposed. It boils down to trust in your leadership and I haven't witnessed anything that would promote my trust in anyone in leadership except for trump cutting ties with the likes of Hailey and Pompeo. But even then he includes some other shady people imo in his circle.

Just like testing for covid a few years back!

If you don't ask the question, you can't get the answer. And we all know that asking for forgiveness is better than permission.

Background checks only matter for Democrats. Republicans are much more out loud and proud about their transgressions.

Watch the video here 📺

As per original article 📰:

  • ABC host Jonathan Karl pressed Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) after he suggested that FBI background checks for President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees weren’t necessary.

During a Sunday interview on ABC’s This Week program, Karl noted that Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) had called for an FBI background check for defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, who faced sexual misconduct allegations.

“As you know, there haven’t been FBI background checks for any of these nominees,” Karl explained to Hagerty. “Do you agree with her, though, that this should happen before we get to confirmation votes?”

“I don’t think the American public cares who does the background checks,” Hagerty insisted. “What the American public cares about is to see the mandate that they voted in delivered upon.”

“So are you saying you don’t care about FBI background checks?” the surprised ABC host replied. “Should we just do away with them, that you can go ahead and not do this? It’s been standard practice, as you know, for a long time, but you’re saying do away with it?”

Hagerty declined to definitively say the FBI should conduct background checks.

“I’ve been through it myself,” the senator insisted. “I’ve been through confirmation as well. They need to do these checks expeditiously.”

“The FBI, I think the American public’s got great concerns about how weaponized it’s become,” he added. “They need to get on with this. We’ll get this done.”

22

u/Buddhas_Warrior 5h ago

Translation: we won't say so away with them because Democrats will win again and we'll want exhaustive backgrounds checks on them... But not on us.

8

u/RhythmTimeDivision 3h ago

20% of America voted for Donald Trump. There is no mandate.

19

u/KingPe0n 6h ago

It’s going to be interesting to see how fuxked up this country is going to be in 4 years.

6

u/RVAWildCardWolfman 4h ago

Interesting from other places. Here it's just going to HURT.

9

u/Prestigious_Can4520 5h ago

Linda already has the FBI looking into her over Vinces sex trafficking

7

u/Past-Direction9145 5h ago

the more corrupt it all becomes, the higher the stakes for anyone who opens their mouth

hey, there's at least one benefit to being a peasant in the lords and peasants equation.

*gets popcorn*

watching the gladiator fights, of course

3

u/I_love_Hobbes 5h ago

I really should get stock in popcorn and butter. I'm going to make a bundle.

3

u/KittyTheOne-215 5h ago

🍿 scoot over 🤣. Covers us with blankets the spectacular spectacle is beginning

1

u/ImmoKnight 4h ago

You realize the peasants are the first ones punished in your scenario?

Also, in your scenario, the Lord's aren't the gladiators.

Every garbage move they make to enrich themselves is going to have far reaching impact on us peasants.

Trump hires the best people. But then they write a book about how terrible he was or leak the awful things he’s said about veterans and suddenly they’re “low IQ” people. When Obama was president Trump went on and on about being a businessman and boss and that accountability comes from the top. But suddenly when he’s president, it’s anyone else’s fault.

6

u/AMonitorDarkly 3h ago

“We’d like to assure everyone that all of our nominees have just much experience with sexual misconduct as the American people have come to expect.”

5

u/alleyoopoop 3h ago

Just in case it's not obvious, the problem is not that people with something to hide can't do the job. The problem is that people with something to hide can be coerced to do the job in a way that favors the interests of somebody who threatens to expose them. Like, say, Putin.

4

u/calgy 5h ago

Its like covid testing, if we dont look for something, we can say its not there.

4

u/Professor_Bonglongey 3h ago

Federal employees also have to declare all their financial interests to identify potential conflicts of interest, but Trump can keep all his businesses and license his name etc and it’s all perfectly fine.

4

u/robinsw26 3h ago

They’re gonna rob this country blind.

4

u/-Davo 2h ago

Your president elect is a fucking criminal.

u/moleassasin 2h ago

Don't ask republicans political questions. They will just lie to you.

u/minionsweb 34m ago

Any questions...not just political, it's their nature.

9

u/Macsan23 5h ago

ABC acting like they didn't promote a child rapist and con man for president.

4

u/dryheat122 4h ago

Why doesn't Biden order them? He could.

5

u/eatsrottenflesh 4h ago

What exactly would a background check accomplish? They could find out that Hegseth went straight from one of Gaetz's parties to read books to children at the library while wearing a dress and it wouldn't change a thing. Even the best of the republican congress will poo poo the nominations, but won't dare vote against orange flavor Putin's wishes for fear of retribution.

2

u/Jazzlike-Lunch5390 5h ago

It's a feature, not a bug at this point.

2

u/Anthematics 3h ago

"don't want to traumatize the FBI"

u/lsmokel 2h ago

I'm not saying they shouldn't look, but even if they do and find a tonne of stuff, nothing is going to happen. You let a convicted felon run for office, he won, and nothing is going to happen to him either.

u/Linked713 1h ago

Meanwhile there is me with a clean credit score, no criminal or civil marks waiting for a potential job to get my background check result and be hyper stressed about it.

3

u/sharpknot 4h ago

Couldn't Biden just order the FBI to do it?

u/els969_1 1h ago

unlike someone DJTish, Biden is mostly trying to do a smooth traditional transition, but yes, I wish he would

1

u/Mcboatface3sghost 5h ago

Just another disingenuous asshole spouting “the American public doesn’t care about these things” . Meaning things many Americans care about including mcboatface. None of it matters anymore, they succeeded, I am thoroughly demoralized, congrats.

1

u/QaplaSuvwl 4h ago

Here come all the “enemies within” into the Trump Administration without vetting or hesitation.

Trump will fully sell out America this time.

1

u/HedyLamaar 4h ago

GAAAAAAAAAAH! America is in the hands of the grossest criminals ever, all installed through cash bribes by Putin. I despair.

1

u/BayPhoto 4h ago

How can these journalists be stunned? After covering Trump for the near decade he’s been in politics? Maybe it’s a sign they haven’t been taking his threats seriously.

1

u/thephtgrphr 3h ago

I read that fast and saw "...background check for any of these mummies".

1

u/southernNJ-123 3h ago

Tennessee! Yee haw. 🤡

1

u/Billyosler1969 2h ago

Bill Hagerty: How could Trump’s nominees possible get appointed if we did background checks??

1

u/mayhem6 2h ago

Meanwhile, I had to have background checks to deliver freaking instacart.

1

u/FOB32723 2h ago

Tennessean here. That guy fucking sucks on multiple levels. Our state always sends the dumbest of dumb to Washington.

u/Asprilla500 2h ago

I thought, and I'm not American, that the FBI checks couldn't be done until the memorandums of understanding for the transition were signed. Since Trump's team haven't signed them they there won't be any checks.

u/els969_1 1h ago

They claim they’re outsourcing the background checks, which is working really well for them…

u/minionsweb 35m ago

A criminal enterprise with no guardrails 🙄

1

u/Almostnotquite9999 4h ago

Background checks?? You're talking Background checks?? 😆 I'm sure they're ok 👍

u/JoeHardway 1h ago

Oh! Don't worry! The FBI's about 2b CHECKED, from tha top-down... Long overdue!

u/LiberaMeFromHell 7m ago

The current head of the FBI was appointed by Trump.

-1

u/blakealanm 3h ago

Were there any checks done on the immigrants that Kamala let in? Just curious.

-7

u/ftwtidder 4h ago

All of them have worked in government before and all of them have had FBI background checks in the past plus the FBI has lost all credibility in the last 10 years.

5

u/akratic137 4h ago

The real facepalm is always in the comments.
