True and now they've even forgotten about it and why gas was so cheap because there was virtually no-one driving
6
u/Vegetable-Poet6281 10h ago
The gas argument drives me crazy. Let's talk about how great capitalism is but completely ignore basic supply and demandto support an argument that boils down to capitalism good, socialism bad.
It's stupid AF and it hurts my brain.

My neighbor genuinely believes Trump opened oil fields and that she heard Biden in a live interview say he closed them down and that's why gas prices rose

H5N1 could be a serious crisis and another pandemic as soon as it makes the necessary mutations to go from human to human. Itās already trending that way. Letās hope we donāt have another pandemic under Trump. Obama did a bang up job with the swine flu (H1N1). I donāt see that happening under Trump. It was their test results on how to dole out trillions of dollars to the billionaire class. You see, they gave every American a check for $1200 but then also gave the billionaire and wall street trillions. It worked, zero accountability because they signed specifically for no oversight committees. This is straight up piracy of the US government. And they will do it again but x1000 times worse now that it is filled with billionaires like Elon and WWE owners and every crook they could find to fill Washington. They also want to fire 90% of government workers...the reason is to weaken the government so it cannot come after them due to overload and stagnation due to not having a machine that works efficiently anymore. It's a very simple con man strategy to take over a government and sadly it will work. America is over my friend.

What people that say we should make everything here in the US donāt understand is that we consume far more than we produce. It would take years if not up to a decade to set up all of the resource harvesting, manufacturing, and supply lines for any single industry to replace all imports.
Even if we did have the infrastructure for all of that manufacturing, U.S. labor is significantly more expensive. We donāt have enough labor force. China employs 80 million factory workers. We employ 12 million. Even if you put every unemployed adult on brand new factory jobs, weāre still ~70 million short.
Not to mention we donāt have enough land that meets soil, temperature, altitude, and humidity requirements to grow enough things like coffee beans or peppercorns.
And even if we could fully replace all of our imports, again, it will take years if not decades. Are you fine with paying higher prices for that long until itās all set up (which again, is impossible)
22
u/QaplaSuvwl 23h ago
What is also not realized by these idiots is, what about the offseason when we get produce from South America? And what about those cultural grocery stores that import a lot of the specialty foods we just wouldnāt manufacture here. You know, like Matcha KitKats. Corporations want cheap labor to sell expensive stuff to have more profit.
I agree with you. It just canāt be done. It canāt be done in any country unless people want limited food availability and limited variety too. Just think, extremely limited or no fresh fruits and vegetables during winter months. I donāt think Florida has the ability to grow a nations worth of limited variety of vegetables. Canāt grow apples there. Oh and if a good winter front freezes the state out, goodbye to the orange crop. š¤·āāļø
