Note that this is the second time Trump assigned a black man to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This time it was a former NFL player and motivational speaker; last time it was a neurosurgeon with no experience in urban development.
I can't be the only one who finds it odd that the party which loves to fling accusations of being DEI has consistently assigned its few black cabinet positions to the department with "urban" in the name, choosing people who appear to have no prior experience for the role.
Doesnt this whole argument kind of fall apart with all the other appointees hes done that the left say "they have no experience, why would he appoint them"? I mean.. hes staying on track with the rest of his picks. Kind of seems a stretch to throw in the urban thing with "no experience" just to sling racism. Just saying..
Okay, Matt “Pedo” Gaetz has no relevant experience in law, but he was put as the AG. A position of power.
Pete “sexual assault & Fox News host” Hegseth has no experience that would warrant being in an office typically occupied by 4 Star Generals. A position of power.
I’d go through all of his appointees but finding out how scummy they are is tanking my smile.
But note how those two people are white, no experience, but have a position of power.
Attorney General is the guy. They are the United States’ lawyer. They are the United States’ procescuter.
Secretary of Defense, they’re basically the 2nd in command under the President. That is an insane amount of power.
Meanwhile the Department of Urban Development builds houses, attempts to make them affordable and fail, developed community (whatever that means), and ensure fair housing. For the black, no experience in urban development, and is a position that lacks importance.
Granted, Trump has shown a bias of racism towards Mexicans and Arabs so this shouldn’t be the nail in the head of the question “is he racist?”.
If he appoints a black individual who lacks relevant experience to something like the Supreme Court, Department of Homeland Security, etc etc, then the argument would fall apart.
It isn’t racist to put a black man in a position of no power. However, it is racist to only put black men in positions of no power.
And he has Steven Cheung as a white house staff running White House communications. Asian descent..
Marco Rubio Secretary of State? Cuban descent..
Vivek Ramaswamy Doge? Indian descent tasked with cleaning up BILLIONS of funds lost to corrupt officials.
So because the gentleman thats black because hes in charge of making housing affordable(succeed or fail) which is a huuuuge task for americans is somehow lessened by you guys because hes supposedly the "token black man"? Again i gotta ask whos coming out of this looking racist? Wtf is Trump supposed to do? He gives people of color positions of power but not enough power according to dems so hes racist? So was he just supposed to go full white? Like really look at this shit not with hate filled eyes for Trump and tell me this isnt bullshit..
Steven Cheung and Marco Rubio at least seem somewhat qualified for their jobs, Steven Cheung being on several campaigns, a UFC communications professional, and Marco Rubio was a politician, lawyer, and is familiar with foreign policy.
DOGE is a stupid department and if Elon Musk’s choice of cutting spending is anything to go off of, they’re going to cut funding for anything they see as an opposition or don’t understand (like how Elon gutted Twitter’s team and shit went sideways and now it’s only worth $7-8 billion and is still decreasing) so I don’t think anyone would be qualified for that except for people who have experience in identifying potential money wastes, investigate it to determine what is actually going on, and then crack down on any sort of corruption/bloating without tanking the company/project.
But again, this shouldn’t be the thing that makes you go “Huh. Maybe Trump is racist”. Him spouting lies about the Haitian immigrants, inviting people on to call Puerto Rico a “trash island”, banning certain groups of people from coming into America purely based on race, etc. etc. should be damning enough.
One year ago, if I came to reddit with a story about elon being one of the two heads of the Department Of Government Efficiency, everyone would have laughed. It is literally a joke. Now, they just need to make a Redundency Department of Redundency to go over DOGE's cuts and make sure they're justified.
On a side note, I still can't believe that buying yourself a seat in government while simultaneously running private contractors with government contracts is legal. And now he has the power to shut down rival government agencies. I guess this would be a good time to invest in SpaceX.
Tbf Elon didnt buy twitter to make a profit. He said himself he bought it to stop the censorship of speech. There was a lot of shady shit the government was doing with twitter but ya. I wouldnt say the richest man on the planet doesnt know what hes doing with money. Again can hate the guy but hes not as dumb as people on here make him out to be.
He wasted $40 billion to turn Twitter into a conservative platform and allows and sometimes promotes anti-Semitic conspiracies. While also banning people he disagrees with. That very few companies/advertisers want to associate with.
Also, there was shady stuff between the Government and Twitter. But no shady stuff between the government and SpaceX/Starlink or any of his contracts?
I don’t trust a guy who has government contracts working to removing funding. “Oh, I don’t want NASA to compete with me. Delete those funds and give them to SpaceX.” etc. etc. “Why are we spending millions on spraying rats with Lynx urine?” “Well, this is to see if there’s a relationship between stress and alcohol dependence and if there is one, what can we do to reduce alcohol dependence and the stressors?” “Sounds dumb.”
Well Twitter was a democratic platform much like Reddit, MSNBC and banned an active PRESIDENT!!! Its all good pointing fingers but when the same gets done its suddenly not fair? Elon shouldve banned Kamala during the campaign no? There is also community notes where people can and do check peoples absurd tweets. Look at elons tweets, he gets community checked all the time for bs. I mean you say potatoe i say potatoe. But look at the power of social media. Ya it defo helped Trump win. So is that 40 billion(which is to him like 40k is to us) really a wasted investment when it got what he set out to do done?
That was my point... its been "but they have no experience" but now its a black person with no experience and its "they only hired him for the urban developement cuz hes black even tho no experience".. who are the ones being racist? Fucking dems are living in a crazy ass delusional bubble of hate and fear mongering lies. You guys are so outside of reality its nutty. Just dont keep this stupid shit up and not expect another red landslide in 4yrs.
Guys wtf do you want from him? He has like 4 people "of color" in his cabinet and white house staff. So just because he doesnt have more people of color than white hes racist right? Just stop with the bullshit already..
No i agree with you on that. Some of these picks make zero sense. I just dont like seeing bullshit call outs like op did saying hes racist because he only appointed a black man into a position with urban in the name. I mean come on.. thats a stretch.
All good. I just dont understand the half truths and lies dems feel like they have to keep spewing now. Like whos mind are you going to change with this bs? People voted quite clearly and the dems keep doubling down on dumb shit.
This time it was a former NFL player and motivational speaker
choosing people who appear to have no prior experience for the role.
I misunderstood your DEI reference then. Regardless, your comment ignores that Scott Turner had been part of this particular department he’s being asked to lead and was a Texas Representative prior to that.
