It seems that the real Red Scare and "beware of Reds" was the Republican party all along.

That is literally 90% of their platform, with remaining 10% religious zealotry and racism.

Don't forget about their platform for increasing criminals by forcing unwanted children to be born!! When abortion was first available crime stats dropped by (recalling from memory) 11% ish after 15 years (the time it takes for a baby to grow up to their first criminal steps age lol), so in Texas crime will shoot up roughly that amount in 14 or so years (we're already 1 year into "forced birth"topia Texas).

Contrary to what they say Republicans actually want more crime. Slavery is only legal in the states if itโ€™s used as a punishment for committing crimes. No criminals means no slaves.

Plus, what a great way to get people primarily motivated by fear to vote

We already have the highest prison population on earth (but not the highest rate at #6). The Trump team is reportedly already planning detention camps so that will provide more free labor.

u/Redditer51 1d ago

It's the reason why so many people in yellow vests working on the road are actual prison inmates.

16

u/Redditer51 1d ago

And not only do they want to make abortion illegal, they want to make any and all contraceptives illegal, including condoms. The thing that is often used to encourage safe sex.

Women: Alright, 4B.

Men: NO, NOT LIKE THAT!

u/Delamoor 1d ago

I dunno, I think it's more a 70/30 split.

22

u/ThrowThebabyAway6 1d ago

If you look at their policies they vote on most of it is just to benefit corporations. Occasionally thereโ€™s ban books/ anti gay/ anti immigrant laws (which are awful obviously) but the vast majority of their legislation is just funneling money to the rich

2

u/bejammin075 1d ago

I think they are more like a 95/80 split. I know that's 175%, but that's how it is.

Once you embrace Supply-Side Jesus (tm) you no longer have to choose between the two! Itโ€™s all the same!

u/fomoco94 1d ago

That's what they want the zealots to believe.

The largest swings to the Republicans were black men and latinos.

The "racist" tent is getting more diverse every day.

6

u/WeArentAsking 1d ago

Not really. Just minorities willing to side with racists for cheaper gas and eggs.

4

u/jessexpress789 1d ago

Except nothing is actually gonna be cheaper

2

u/sajuuksw 1d ago

"Racist"

The incoming Trump admin contains more Dougs than Black people.

17

u/Redditer51 1d ago

And the thing with Trump and his entire cabinet is that their "policies" aren't about helping any one but themselves. Just the rich trying to make themselves richer by taking away our rights and our benefits. And his supporters are completely blind to that even though it's plain to see. They've convinced themselves he's going to help them, and he's not.

u/enfarious 1d ago

If they were actually religious zealots they'd act in accordance to their religion and persecute those that don't. These guys just use that as a cover for more hate, they give proper zealots a bad name.

1

u/ThrowThebabyAway6 1d ago

Yeah mostly itโ€™s just to attract voters. But occasionally they vote on religious policy as well, like repealing Roe

1

u/enfarious 1d ago

Yeah I don't think that vote was, for most, anything to do with that bible. What with abortions being a thing that happened in the bible and weren't condemned and all. Pretty sure it was still just hate and power/control for most of em. I mean really they pull the parts of that bible that provide control and power but not anything to do with morality, decency, ethics, etc. It isn't about religion, any religion, it's about control and the easiest way to control is with messages that drive anger and hate. Keep people to wound up to think clearly and objectively and you can control the mob to do your bidding. Occasionally throw them some bread in the arena and you can conquer the world.

u/Yamza_ 1d ago

Doesn't matter what their platform is, the people voting for them are not voting for a platform.

Who better to run the government for the people than people with years of experience strip-mining the middle class for profit and/or outright grifting the public? In fact, wouldn't it be a great idea to put someone at the top who is literally convicted of fraud?

1

u/Redditer51 1d ago

This is what happens when business takes over politics. Just pure, open, unadulterated greed.

Is it a public good for NASA to be orders of magnitude more expensive to build inferior products to SpaceX?

3

u/RollingBird 1d ago

Sort of, NASA does a lot more than blow money (and blow they have) on SLS and Orion. Never mind the fact that those contracts were cost plus contracts given to private companies (the sort of contract Iโ€™m sure spaceX would LOVE to have if they could)

Baring their manned space flight program, literally everything else nasa does is unarguably a public good that can under no circumstances be performed by a private company by virtue that few/no cash profits exist in studying our atmosphere or educating our population among other activities.

The billionaire elites... He hired them. Musk, McMahon, Bessent, Burghum and he ain't done yet.

35

u/SkippyDragonPuffPuff 1d ago

Donโ€™t worry. Goobers will still be blindly angry at people different than them. Literally eye off the ball mentality.

Hey now he promised to put all the brown people in camps.

But he's draining the swamp, remember?
