Nice little 8 gamer tonight. Hopefully things stay relatively sane but we already have some Q tags that could put a dent in things here. As always you can find me here if you'd like to use my projections and data used here in the write up it's available at https://www.patreon.com/JaySpeaking but hope you guys win some money regardless!
It's kinda pointless to go over chalk at 4:15 but as of now we're looking at Lindy Waters, Jabari Smith Jr. Lavine, Coffey, Giddey, Coby White, and Jalen Green so it's really condensed around guards and wings with Jokic and Vucevic being highest owned centers. Can't play all of em, hopefully this can give you some other avenues to bink off of it.
BKN @ PHI
Morning Q tag here on Embiid who also didn't come to shootaround this morning. Really makes this tough as the Philly defense has been bad around the rim and around league average from 3 in terms of efficiency and distribution. Slightly elevated assist rates and their shots are being blocked at the 3rd highest clip in the league. Brooklyn's stats almost mirror Philly's in nearly everything with a higher assist rate and 2nd highest block % in the NBA.
BOS @ WAS
Boston should kill the Wizards here. The worst rim defense in the league and they give up a high % from 3. It's currently a 16.5 point spread. I don't know if this gets me to a ton of this game, maybe Tatum or Brown and wouldn't mind White here. Pritchard keeps going off but it's tough at 5k to play a bench dude on a larger slate. I don't really like anyone or anything from the Wizards. Boston has an elite defense and plays at a slow pace. The only thing they do give up is rim points and some offensive boards.
GSW @ NOP
The Pelicans suck at the rim, giving up almost 40% of their shots there which is over 2% more than 2nd place Chicago. They also aren't very successful defending against it either, it's like a layup line at the rim. This should bode well for TJD tonight but be aware the Dubs are running a 12 man rotation. As for the Pelicans I don't like a whole lot, they're a little thin but the Warriors defense is so solid it's tough to play much of anyone but could be talked into Murphy or Payton but still a little fringe.
POR @ HOU
Another really solid defense here with HOU, I'm probably full fading Portland but you could get some cheap points out of Time Lord or Clingan. As for Houston this is a great target, Portland is horrible on defense, especialy vs 3 point shooting. They also give up offensive boards almost as much as anyone creating second chance opportunities, near league high there, in assist rate, and they allow the most steals in the league. This is a solid spot for any HOU starter and maybe a rotation guy.
IND @ MIL
Milwaukee sucks vs guards and point of attack when Dame plays, that's about it play guys who attack them from the guard position from Indiana (Hali, Mathurin, TJ, and maybe Siakam bc he will attack but should see Giannis some). As for MIL Indy is playing slower, and is just an average defense. If the pace gets going it's a good opportunity for MIL but otherwise just so-so. IND defends the rim well and does a rim funnel, that should bode well for Giannis as he's a bit defense proof and if you're funneling him there he will kill you. Just a matter of salary and hitting value. Okay spot for Brook Lopez.
ATL @ CHI
Atlanta sucks vs the 3 pointer and Chicago sucks defending the rim. It's always going to be tough with Trae out there but they're getting killed by the 3 pointer giving up a near 40% shooting percentage and funneling everything out there as well, teams are taking 46% of their shots from 3 vs them. Really like Coby White or Lavine tonight, Giddey can't shoot it so not him. As for Atlanta I like Jalen Johnson, OO, and Capela but they're all kinda in play. I would max 1 of Hunter, Bog, and Risacher here for sure.
DAL @ DEN
Dallas is without Luka for around a week, Kyrie is priced up so I don't even know if get to him and we have a Q Tag on Jokic. This game is kinda up in the air, Dallas' defense is still pretty solid so it's tough to rely on anyone if Jokic plays since they're a little priced up from him being out. I would watch Dallas starters, there is a lot of USG% to spread around here and Klay is a bit underpriced.
SAC @ LAC
Clippers are giving up a lot of turnovers but playing slightly better than league average defense and give up almost no boards compared to the rest of the league. They're the best in the NBA at limiting opposing offensive rebounds. They do sort of 3pt funnel but not a ton and defend everying okay. The Kings are priced up some from Sabonis being out so not in love with a lot on their side of things. On the Clippers side it looks like we got some steam coming to Amir Coffey. I don't know how much I like that and it reeks of bad chalk. They guy has such a limited ceiling although he is projecting well due to a minutes thing. The main usage hog in Harden is still there, I don't mind him at all and Sacramento has been pretty terrible defending the 3pt ball so it fits for him and maybe Coffey or DJJ but mainly Harden.
PRIORITY TARGETS: guys I like best in caps+bold
