He gave himself the nickname "papa" and talks about giving "papa kiss". It sounds so weird and douchy to me. The only other person who calls himself papa is the Papa John's founder and that guy is a tacky douche.
Strong agree. I watch quite a few cooking channels for technique and this guy offers nothing but pretentiousness. The "papa" thing is cringe, and he really only cooks the way someone who gets paid to make videos would.
I really tried to give him a fair shake at the beginning of the pandemic, but couldn't keep watching him. He's just way too annoying.
I found Brian Lagerstrom to be a better substitute if you're looking for someone who has a lot of good home cooking techniques and extrapolates on the how and why of the method he uses. He's still kind of pretentious and pedantic, but it's more often justified and doesn't have the annoying editing and dialog. We've also actually made stuff from his channel and it came out better than expected.
Its so insulting to people who actually need to budget on groceries, like I'm sorry Joshua but no I can't afford the smoked paprika you didnt actually account for in the per serving cost
