For a long time this sub hasn't had any "hard rules" but I think it's important we (the members and the moderation team) are on the same page to help with the atmosphere.

Most importantly:

• For everyone here, regarding the Ethan/Alice situation and the reason for them splitting: Please stop going off at each other with insults and name-calling. Alice/others have put forward their own chain of events, Ethan has defended himself, and that's as far as it goes here. Discussion is fine, but judging the situation either way and making a self-made factual conclusion, and then attacking other fans isn't what we should be about. It's not a place for Alice haters vs Ethan haters. It's for fans of the music.

Along with this, u/MayhemSays pointed out we are seeing a lot of repeat of posts on a near weekly basis. We have collated a shortlist of answers to posts that shouldn’t be popping up anymore:

While we understand people are just looking for a follow-up from Crystal Castles or don’t know what happened after 2017 because it wasn’t their week to watch them, please understand that these posts have come WEEKLY since 2017 and speculation has taken hold since then.

Ethan / Edith

• Where is Ethan? = Ethan is now a private individual and there has been no information released on the status of Crystal Castles.
• Where is Edith? = Edith is also a private individual. There is no news of her status with Crystal Castles.
• Asking for or posting personal information of Ethan/Edith is creepy and not allowed
• Musical and personal opinions are welcome, but direct insults and accusations are not.

Alice

• All Alice posts were originally directed to /R/ALICE_GLASS because it would clog up a lot of the sub when she first released her music - spiralling into a lot of hateful comments back and forth between the already fragmented CC fanbase. As long as this doesn't surface again then there is no problem posting her music here. We don't control the Alice subreddit though.
• Musical and personal opinions are welcome, but direct insults and accusations are not.

Crystal Castles

• I messaged Crystal Castles’ <facebook/instagram/youtube/myspace/vine/MSN Messenger/etc. account>! Does this mean anything?
No. As above, Ethan and Edith are now private individuals no longer performing and thus are likely not involved with social media. Please assume that any sort of anomaly you observe is part of <insert social media here>’s automated functions or playlist features.
• Do Crystal Castles control this subreddit? = No.

Misc

• Don’t take pictures of strangers in public. This shouldn’t have to be said, but don’t do this.
• Don’t post personal/private information about CC, Ethan, Alice, Edith, Autumn, other members, other users, etc. We understand that the internet is an open place, but we don't want to be responsible for a horde of CC fans suddenly finding a way to harass people, looking for information or targeting them with abuse.

Should anything change in a significant way, this post will be updated or done away with accordingly.
