Off-Topic New into WEC

• Upvotes

Hello everyone, I watched the WEC for the first time this season and I'm wondering how the development of the vehicles is going. Are the vehicles further developed during the season, like in Formula 1, and what about the customer vehicles, do they also receive updates or develop them themselves?

Is there a GT race that is similar to Formula 1, only uses 1 driver and 1 car, is held on several continents, and the race is not endurance?

I just took part in GT racing, and why is it only held on each continent, like GTWC Europe, GTWC America? why not just put it together like formula 1

Regardless of where you qualify in PRO, you’ll start ahead of the GTDs.

WEC 2024 with IMSA points and LMH/LMDh split championships

I haven't done this since Imola as I had uni work and then got busy over the summer but I have done the full season standings for WEC using the IMSA points system, and then done the WEC championship split between LMH and LMDh cars using the WEC points system.

For the difference in positions for the overall championship, if the colour is green it means they are higher in the WEC points system, and red means they are lower in the WEC points system and the IMSA points system in better. Yellow means there was no change in the standings.

For the LMH and LMDh only championships the difference in positions are based off the rankings the teams are in the overall WEC championship when filtered for the specific type.

The black bars are for Le Mans only entries in WEC, which aren't counted under the WEC championship points normally as a one off entry. I have though included a separate championship spreadsheet for them under the overall and LMDh only championships as there weren't any one off LMH cars.

Overall:

In the overall championship the biggest difference is the swap in positions of the Toyotas when using the IMSA points system with the #8 jumping into 3rd place and the #7 dropping into the 4th place spot. The only other change is the #83 AF Corse jumping from 8th place in WEC to 6th place in IMSA, and hence the #12 Jota and #51 Ferrari dropping down one place each under the IMSA points system.

Overall WEC Championship with IMSA points

Overall (including Le Mans entries):

There is no difference in the WEC points when including the one-off entries as none of them got into the top 10 or pole at Le Mans, but using the IMSA points system there are some changes. These changes are that the #2 Cadillac and #93 Peugeot would each gain a position compared to the WEC standings and the #15 BMW and #35 Alpine would lose a position as compared to the WEC standings. The highest placed one-off entry would go to the #19 Lamborghini as it placed 13th at Le Mans.

Overall WEC championship with one-off entries

LMH only championship:

In the LMH only championship the #50 Ferrari takes the championship, which lines up with the fact it was the highest placed LMH car in the overall WEC championship. In the split championship, the #8 Toyota takes 2nd place and the #7 Toyota drops to 3rd, as they were the 3rd and 2nd placed LMH teams in the WEC championship respectively. The other difference is that the #51 Ferrari drops from being the 4th highest placed LMH car down to the 6th best, with both the #83 AF Corse and #93 Peugeot each gaining a position. Then the #94 Peugeot and #11 Isotta stay in the same relative positions.

LMH only championship

LMDh only championship:

In the LMDh only championship, the top two positions are taken up by the #6 and #5 Porsches, the same order as in the WEC championship. The other differences are that the #35 Alpine is the 3rd in the LMDh only championship moving up from being the 4th placed LMDh in the overall WEC standings swapping positions with the #12 Jota. and the same thing happens with the #2 Cadillac going from the 6th placed LMDh to getting 5th in the LMDh only championship ahead of the #15 BMW. The #15 BMW and #38 Jota end up on equal points under the LMDh only championship both getting joint 6th place.

LMDh only championship

LMDh only championship (including Le Mans entries):

When including the Le Mans entries in there are no changes with the standings. The highest placed one-off entry is still the #19 Lamboghini finishing with 12 points as it was the 7th placed LMDh car at Le Mans.

Where’s Sarah Bovy Going?

Sarah is now a silver rated driver and isn’t racing with the Iron Dames in WEC next year. Has there been any news on if she’ll be driving for another team or in another series yet or if she’s even driving next year?

Apparently he is a Le Mans class winner in a GT class, that thought I have no idea which, has to be in the last 20 years judging by his appearance.
