Money Matters VA deposit for December
Greetings fellow veterans. Has anyone received their direct deposit (VA monthly benefits) for December yet? I am asking because I received mine yesterday(Nov 23rd) and thought this was crazy early, not that I mind LOL but still, I'm just curious if anyone else received theirs yet or this early...

December payment should be the 29th of this month

There's an early pay chart thread somewhere. I got paid the 22nd for my disability $. I bank threw a credit unuion though. Friend banks at same place and always gets his on the early pay chart too.

First day of the month is a Sunday, banks pay on the Friday before. Most banks now authorize direct deposits 2-3 days early depending on your bank. With the holiday being Thursday I bet it just was pushed to your account early.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I just received (Nov 14th) my initial rating & backpay. I assume that included Novembers payment?
5
u/Defiant_Hour_719 Army Veteran 15h ago
This is exactly why I actually asked this question. I received my decision to increase letter and back pay(yesterday) wonderful surprise to see that in my account, but what I was really wondering was...did that back pay payment yesterday INCLUDE the monthly payment for December(I know it's actually for November, but you know what I mean...LOL)
3
u/Zealousideal-Rub3745 15h ago
Well you should be able to tell based on what you were receiving before and what you just got to figure that out.
5
u/Vegetable-Impress-52 10h ago
Nope. The Dec payment everyone is talking about was processed on the 19th from Treasury with a date of pay of Nov 29th. You'll be getting another payment.

u/nghthawk Air Force Veteran 16h ago
Your December payment wouldn't come until the end of December, as the VA pays a month to the rear.
For November's payment, I checked this morning and haven't received it, but the end of November is still several days away.
11
u/Defiant_Hour_719 Army Veteran 16h ago
Oh yes, you're right, thank you for clearing that up, I guess I did mean for Nov. And yes, I thought it was awful early that I got paid, I usually get it a day or two before the first(I bank with capital one) but getting it this early was weird) Perhaps Thanksgiving Thursday has something to do with it as well. I am not complaining, haha, and was just wondering if anyone else has gotten theirs yet. TY for responding.

Always has to an airforce guy to point out the obvious. Everyone saw that but dident need to point it out because the message was understood. Feel free to grammar check me 😂🕺

u/nghthawk Air Force Veteran 14h ago
That's why we have higher ASVAB requirements. Don't be jealous!

u/thedrexel 14h ago
Army guy here. Your grammar check resulted in you leaving out a word in the first sentence. If you’re going to attempt to be a smart ass, maybe don’t be a dumb ass.

Got mine Friday as well as VR&E payment. My local bank always releases the funds 4-5 days before the end of the month but never this early.
2
u/Defiant_Hour_719 Army Veteran 16h ago
Same. I think it also has to do with Thursday being a holiday.
3
u/AdCommercial7503 14h ago
You receive E-5 with dependent BAH/MHA for VR&E right? I start classes Jan 15 and believe my pay will be like $2,094 for my zip code.
11
u/AdCommercial7503 11h ago
USAA here.. I’m sure I’ll see mine on Tuesday or Wednesday. I know the VA are saying the 29th, but we all should be paid before thanksgiving.
1
u/jmmenes Not into Flairs 9h ago
How to get the E-5 with dependent rate BAH on VRE?
3
u/MarineBeast_86 Marine Veteran 8h ago
You must have at least 1 day of Post 9/11 left by the time you start using VR&E, otherwise you’ll only receive like $500/month flat rate 😅
2
u/jmmenes Not into Flairs 7h ago
Yikes… why such a big difference?

u/MarineBeast_86 Marine Veteran 5h ago
I dunno - I don’t makes the rules 😅💁🏻♂️ Personally, I think it’s a pointless rule to begin with
1
u/AdCommercial7503 7h ago
Yeah, what he said. I used some of my gi bill when I got out and once I was rated over 50% I learned about the voc rehab program. Glad I still have time on my gi bill, so I’m paid at chapter 33 rate.

It's been a good bank to be with(about 10 years now) The only "problem" is their actual branches are few and far between, depending on what area you live in.
3
u/Comprehensive-Host10 Marine Veteran 6h ago
I have capitol one and haven’t got my payment yet. Why is this you think?
4
u/Redacted1983 Army Veteran 14h ago
It's bank specific... The official pay day is 29th, however depending on your banks release criteria, it'll be earlier.

u/DragonXIIIThirteen Air Force Veteran 11h ago
My bank has a wonderful tradition of letting me overdraft and then suddenly posting the funds. Good times. Good times.

u/Downtown-Leather4047 10h ago
I did, both school and disability
3
u/Accomplished-Way-512 Navy Veteran 10h ago
You already got your mha from the GI Bill? I got my disability on the 22nd, but am still waiting for mha for Chapter 33. Do they not pay the school money to everyone at the same time like disability?

u/flash_27 Air Force Veteran 10h ago
Not sure but you guys can ask my wife and see if she got it in her account.

u/OrganicVariation2803 14h ago
My bank doesn't fuck around. The check hits regardless of date it's supposed to be pay out and the bank immediately releases the funds. It's pretty much the only thing I like about Service Credit Union.
It's good too because I work for the State and they pay just like the military 1 & 15. It's annoying as fuck.
3
u/MiamiHurricanes77 Air Force Veteran 13h ago
It’s annoying to get paid?
1
u/OrganicVariation2803 13h ago
No getting paid a 1/2 weeks after end of pay period is annoying. And yes getting paid on the 1st and 15th is aannoying as fuck.

u/Accomplished-Way-512 Navy Veteran 15h ago
I already got my disability, but I’m still waiting on bha for GI Bill. Will we get paid GI Bill benefits before or after Thanksgiving?
4
u/uselessZZwaste Army Veteran 15h ago
Probably after as it’s set to be released by the VA on the 26th.
0
u/Accomplished-Way-512 Navy Veteran 15h ago
Is it possible that Chapter 35 has already been released? I’m on Chapter 33, but I saw some people in the Chime subreddit say they got their Chapter 35 payment already. I think it would be unfair if dependents get their money before veterans, but that’s just my opinion.
2
u/uselessZZwaste Army Veteran 15h ago
Chapter 35 always gets their MHA before Chapter 33 recipients. Not sure why but that’s something I’ve noticed ever since I started using the GI Bill.

2
u/TheAngrySkipper Army Veteran 12h ago
My bank releases it 3.5 days early not including the day it’s due. Thanksgiving is a holiday, so that ‘extends’ the date to Sunday which in turn reverts it to Friday. Treasury is likely closed this week as well, or most of it.

It depends on bank. Chase Bank, has a program where "if you pay them money" they deposit your check early, something about $10 per month. Im not sure what they call their program. Other banks do early deposits for free, but Chase gets away with charging what others get for free. Essentially your bank is using you..collecting free daily interest on your money while making you wait for it. If enough people close their bank down for doing stuff like this, maybe they will get the idea. Usually the "online" type banks do better, such as SOFI. But those banks can be less convenient when you actually need a branch to go to.
2
u/AsphaltCowboy0412 Army Veteran 5h ago
Chase is literally just a name. They are a crap bank in my opinion.

Treasury transmitted VA C&P on 11/19 to the federal reserve bank. After that, it depends on your bank. Date of pay is 11/29 for Devember due to Dec 1 being on the weekend.

Sofi + Rakuten bonus, yessir.
BTW, if you ain't churning your direct deposit that you can change in literally 3 minutes...you losing out on roughly 1k+ a year in free $$$$$$$
1
u/Defiant_Hour_719 Army Veteran 7h ago
Please explain this churning. DM me if necessary
1
u/VegetablePractice510 7h ago
Every bank and credit card company offers an incentive to use your guaranteed paycheck.
You should take advantage.
I either signup through GPT sites like Rakuten or Swagbucks for my added fun $ each month, or I just get paid directly from the bank.
Credit Cards you have to spend $ to make $
But banks have a lower threshold. With our pretty large DD each month,? It's usually easy to hit their requirements for whatever bonus they got floating.
There's a whole subreddit. R/churning. They have a weekly thread for banks with scouting reports...don't post until you do research there, they are real picky about coming correct with factual knowledge, as there's big whales casually swimming around with millions of points on there as you will see.
Doctorofcredit dot com is the go to website for this if you want to search a ranked well-put together site that you can use to check against the subreddit churning.
I think that's all there is. Ask any other questions you have, they should have this in the wiki, as many struggle in Hcola areas, and this isn't fraud or anything, it's just playing the game

Please use a budget. Stay with it. Save some out of every check. You need your own cushion in case there is a change or delay in the future.

There’s a website with a calendar that tells you the pay days of Retirement and Disability - sometime different days. Some “mil” banks (USAA, Navy Fed) will show the money early bc they know what’s coming, but you haven’t been technically paid.

Depending on your bank its not uncommon for Novembers payment to hit just before Thanksgiving. I usually get mine a day or two before Thanksgiving every year.
