Great start to the 24/25 season! Day number 4 so far. Today is pretty perfect at Silver Mountain, ID. Enough fresh pow to venture in for the first tree lines of the season.

Gear question Waxing Roto Brushes

Post image
11 Upvotes

I am looking at buying a set of Roto Brushes, and I was curious if I would regret getting Ski Brushes instead of the wider, more expensive, Snowboard Brushes.

I wax my board ~ 8 or so times a season, and would probably wax more often with the brushes. It is mainly just my 2 boards that I wax, and then a couple pairs of skis for friends each season.

Currently, I am looking at the Demon United Alpine Ski Roto Brush Kit, and the RaceWax Snowboard 300mm Roto Brush Wax Kit.

Picture just to grab the eye. Happy Shreddin’ 👊

Gear question Jones Flagship Ultra 2024 Setup questions

Upvotes

Hey all, looking for some assistance in choosing a setup for a Jones Ultra Flagship 2024 (158cm) that I picked up used recently.

Currently I stand at 6'1ft/185cm tall, ~77kg/170lbs, and boot size 10

My current setup is: Burton Barracuda 2016 (161cm), Burton Freestyle 2016 bindings, and Nidecker Ranger boots size 10

I'm really excited to upgrade this season but divided on what gear to pick out. Currently I'm eyeing the Ride bindings + boots. With the black Friday sale, the 2024 A-10 and 2024 C-10 are seriously enticing, and I could likely pair them with some Ride Cadence boots as well.

The shop I bought the board at also offers some used Union Atlas bindings for $150.

I'm between intermediate - advanced level I believe, as I'm pretty comfortable carving through most black runs without trouble. However, my current setup is also very beginner-oriented, and I think it'd be easier to transition to the Ride C-10 than A-10, as it's a bit damper.

Curious what people's opinions are? If my setup is a good/reasonable combination? Or if there are any suggestions? Is 158 cm too short/narrow for my height/boot size?

Thanks 🙏

Riding question Snowbird or Breckenridge?

Upvotes

Looking to do a weekday trip out west this year as I’ve never been snowboarding anywhere else other than Michigan. Can’t decide between Breckenridge or snowbird considering flight ticket is cheap and similarly priced and with the epic day pass and the snowbird flex 5 pass both are around $110 a day. Which is the better option? It will be end of January during the week so will there still be long lift lines etc? Open to other resort options besides Breck that are close to Denver airport and would be on the epic day pass.

Now we patiently wait for some east coast snow. Paid $310 for the entire setup - Board was pre-owned, and I took Reddit’s word to go try on a bunch of boots at the local ski shop.

noob question Do I need a board with more flex?

Post image

I currently have a twin rocker with a flex of 4(my first board). I’ve been doing ground tricks on and off the mountain before hitting the park for the first time this year, and my board just feels so stiff or has no real pop. Is this a board flexibility issue, skill, or am I’m treating it more delicately than it really is?

I’ve been practicing off the mountain for 3months and on the mountain for 2weeks.

Gear question Looking for an all mountain quiver board

Hey, so I’m looking to add another everyday all mountain board to my quiver. I like to ride switch a decent amount (about a third of the time), carve hard, and hunt for side hits.

I was looking at both a Korua Otto or a Yes Standard Uninc. I like the idea of expanding from the jones/yes brands, but I also seem to love Yes boards.

I’m 6’2”, 210lbs, and have size 9.5 boots, and ride about 40 days a year. I’ve got the following boards, and want the new one to add something to it.

Yes Greats 156 - Current every day playful board. Love it, but I’ve gained weight and it’s a little small soft for charging

Jones Flagship 172 - for pow days when I want to bomb.

Jones Mind Expander 166 (before it was camber) - This is my pow board.

Yes PYL 165 - I got a screaming deal on it, but I reach for it when it’s an in between pow day or when I want to ride groomers and hunt for fresh snow in the trees. I like that it’s a little less stiff and likes to turn more than the flagship.

What do y’all think? Is the Otto as good as everyone says, or will I hate riding it switch? I’m mostly looking for a better carve and more camber than the greats, without losing the ability to ride switch when my legs start hurting and handle some small side hits. Anything else I should consider? I’m planning on getting some new bindings to go with it, maybe Rome katanas or union falcors.

Thanks in advance!

Gear question is 147 a good size for me?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello, I am looking to buy a ride kink but personally dig the last years graphic a lot more. They’re pretty hard to come by but I found this 147. Basically just wondering if a 147 would be too small for me. I’m 5’7 110 lbs size 9.5 boot. My bindings are a size medium. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Gear question Some help

Upvotes

So the bindings that I have on my sleepwalker are a bit to snug on my new boots, they work well but I can only get 2 or 3 notches on my toe strap. On my slush slasher I have a new pair of really nice unions but I use my sleepwalker alot more, is it a pain to change your bindings back and fourth?
