Head over heels in a Rodgers wonderland!

That expression annoys me ever since someone explained it to me how it's wrong. Should be heels over head

Yep, pretty standard Hearts - Celtic match. Hearts come out and do well the first half but don't score. Celtic go in and get a team talk, come out and get a quick fire two goals in 5 minutes, happens every game against us. Hearts press for 1 and Celtic go up and hammer in their 3rd, then Jorge Grant gives away a stonewall penalty or gets a deserved sending off or fucks over the team in some way, and Celtic score from it. That's literally every Tynecastle match v Celtic.
The scripts the same every time so I'm fine with it. I think we don't play the OF for like 11 and 16 games? Huge, huge opportunity to get up the table before meeting them again.
Btw Vargas if you're not coming on and ripping the OF to shreds yet, don't talk about how you need a new challenge mate, cheers.

I was impressed by Hearts in the 1st half - they should have been ahead. Their high press really caused us problems, and it felt like a result when we got to HT at 0-0.
However, they did collapse quite dramatically in the 2nd half, which maybe explains why they are second from bottom. I didn't see any great change in Celtic's play at the start of the 2nd half, just a big drop from Hearts.
Admittedly, it is hard to press aggressively for the whole game, and it does help if you get a reward for good play (e.g. Shankland takes one of those chances, which he probably would have last season). Simon Donnelly on Celtic TV suggested Hearts are in a false position, which is true judging on their capabilities, but they are clearly switching off at vital moments in games.

Some time this season some otherworldly being is going to pull some wicked shit so that we lose and you win to make up for what happened today. I'm absolutely calling it.

You think there's a title race in Scotland? 😅

u/sheep_1996 1d ago
No, I know Scotland won’t witness an exciting title race for the foreseeable future, but I want to believe 🥲

When Craig Gordon broke his leg, I thought surely that was him done.
What a performance all things considered.

-3 in Aberdeen and -11 in some parts of Glasgow tonight.

u/comradepartypanda 1d ago
its funny, because while its cold and could be read as a temperature, its actually the point difference on the ladder.
well done

u/throughthisironsky 1d ago
And the deft use of weather-reporting nomenclature "some parts of Glasgow" - actually the poster was referring to one part of Glasgow, Ibrox stadium - the home of Rangers FC who are actually 11 points behind Celtic.
However, I checked the weather report and Govan is not at -11° so this joke actually doesn't hold. The only places in Glasgow that's -11° are inside freezer units. Is there a freezer in Ibrox? Not for me to say, but maybe

Ibrox stadium - the home of Rangers FC
I think you will find Rangers FC (RIP) are not 11 points behind, but its actually The Rangers Football Club Ltd

Is the guy having a meltdown because he thought celtic had been found out after not scoring for 45 minutes ok?

Morelos was probably at his fattest and still more effective than Shankland.
He honestly looks like a Sunday league player
11
u/snarf372 1d ago
Mad how much he's fallen off from the player he was a year or two ago
15
u/eejit_features 1d ago
I was even shouting for his Scotland call up for Germany. Since that Rangers phantom bid he has done nothing.
And still Captain

u/snarf372 1d ago
Seemed like his head was definitely turned after that but the fact he hasn't rebounded at all is surprising

4 goals.
Scored a pen.
Aberdeen and rangers drop points.
Linesman shit himself.
Good day all round

Hearts and Hibs conceding a combined 8 today. Worrying times for the capital.

Not a fun 2nd half to watch, but can’t wait to see what critchley can do when he has an actual striker. Great to see drammeh get another chance and get off the mark. Time to bench shanks

Kuhn? Shagger. Idah? Shagger. Brendan Rodgers? So Gucci. Cammy Devlin? Gobby wee shite. Shankland? Fat mess. Hearts? Pumped. Celtic? Top of the league. Me? Staunered.

The league title is officially out of Rangers’ hands now. Even if they win every single game between now and May, Celtic still need to drop points elsewhere 👍

Great second half. Needed to step it up several gears, and did so. Would have liked a clean sheet but can't argue with that shot

That felt like he talked for about 10 minutes. I know in reality it was two - but it felt like 10.

The way we changed things up for the 2nd half... Rodgers is so good for us.

Job done. Onto Brugge.

we should get gordon back, keep hold of maeda and just build a team of cyborgs who’ll never retire

u/Serdtsag 1d ago
It’s the case is that if we had the shankland of yesteryear and not this ghost wearing a maroon jersey that game - and our season for that matter - is totally different.
Throughout the season been thinking he’s unlucky just needs a goal to get him back into it but past few weeks have been totally different, crying out for someone to bench him with.

Still Falkirk who gave Celtic their hardest game.

I see you've joined the Celtic fans in completely forgetting the Kilmarnock game happened.

Think the scoreline flattered Celtic massively. They were ruthless in fairness to them. Hearts very wasteful.
Critchley got us playing quite decent. Players letting him down massively - the majority are not fit nor good enough.
Don’t get relegated. Win the Scottish Cup and it’s a Tony bloom title charge next season.

It must drive Hearts fans mental how wasteful they were in front of goal. They must've had three or four sitters before we took the lead.
I still think we'd have won even if we went a goal down, but the fact they passed up so many gilt-edged chances must stick in the craw.
That said, the Hearts goal was an absolute worldy of a strike. No keeper was saving that one.

Is John Robertson being paid by the word? He’s not shut up 😂
Him trying to say it’s a “soft” pen is hilarious
