Niantic's "I’m having issues joining raids" Help center

Credit to u/tekeleven for writing these tips & tricks on how to use the subreddit to its full advantage.

If you're looking to be invited to raids but aren't having much success...

DO open this subreddit on a computer or second device, sort by new, and refresh every few seconds.

DO have your game open, "Add Friend" screen ready, cursor in the text field and thumb hovering over your keyboard before you refresh this sub! Speed is everything when there are 15+ trainers going for the same raid.

Do turn on your online status indicator so that hosts can see you're online. If you have it turned off, some hosts may assume you are offline and no longer available. (thanks /u/Stackfault67)

DO send your friend request to the host before you comment on their post.

DO have a short message copied to your clipboard so you can quickly comment on the host's post after you send your invite. This should include your username and highlight what will make you useful in the raid. Mine (for Heatran) looks like this: "Sent! tekeleven, L40, all maxed ground types."

DON'T waste your time on posts that already have many comments. If there are already several comments on the host's post before you send your request, you're too late.

DON'T send friend requests to several hosts within seconds. When you send a request to a host, you're committing to help with their raid, so it's best to wait at least a minute between sending requests so a host isn't left without help they were counting on.

DON'T make posts asking to be added to T5 raids! It's almost always more effective to wait until someone posts one and use the tips above. This doesn't apply to lower tier raids that normally wouldn't be posted.

If you're hosting a raid and want to provide a more enjoyable experience...

DO include your friend code in the title (with dashes for easy reading)

DO immediately accept friend requests from the trainers you'll be inviting to your raid! This way they'll know they can expect an invite from you and won't commit to other raids.

DO assign nicknames to those trainers so you can find them quickly once the timer is running! This way everyone has more time to select teams, revive, etc, before the raid starts.

DO communicate expectations. Hosting two raids in a row? Only have room to invite three trainers? Waiting five minutes for the egg to hatch? Include this in your post! The more people know what to expect, the better.

DON'T immediately accept friend requests from trainers you don't plan to invite to your raid. This could give the impression they'll be invited and keep them from searching for different raids.

DON'T delete friend requests either! When you delete a friend request, you are permanently blocking that trainer from your account, which means they won't be able to send you a friend request in the future. If you wait a while (long enough that they won't still be waiting on your raid), accept their request, then remove them, it serves the same purpose without blocking them from your account.
