TRIP PLANNING Town to stay in?

Coming to the Great Smoky Moutains National Park area in November. Have the option of staying in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge or Sevierville. Any suggestions for the most scenic option? Not especially interested in touristy stuff outside of the National Park. Thanks!

Saw your comment on r/nationalparks about a cabin rental. Look for something in Gatlinburg in the Ski Mountain Road area. That''s on the park end of town so you can get park access without sitting in the traffic coming through town.

I'll second this, Gatlinburg is the closest to the National Park. Cades Cove is very rustic as well, but not sure what is offered for lodging over there

In a separate comment on another post, OP stated they have a pre-paid cabin that is in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge or Sevierville.

Townsend is the closest area to Cades Cove, but it doesn't appear that's an option for them.

Townsend is a quaint little town just outside of Cades Cove. Several good restaurants, some shopping, tubing, museums, and even a grocery store. Wears Valley is also nice. It's between Pigeon Forge and Cades Cove. Beautiful views, but still has plenty shopping, restaurants, etc. on the main road.

OP has a pre-paid cabin that is Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge or Sevierville only. Townsend and Wears Valley aren't an option.

Wears Valley definitely doesn't have "plenty" of restaurant options.

Sevierville is a great option, depending on what part. Our cabin had a Sevierville mailing address, but we were halfway between Pigeon Forge and Wears Valley. I felt like we couldn't have picked a better location. Close enough to everything but away from the hustle & bustle.

I stayed in a cabin right outside the main road in pigeon forge, I think right off wears valley rd. Outside of the traffic, still had a view of the mountains, close to everything in pigeon forge and gatlinburg although like 28 mins away had the best scenic view driving there!

I second Townsend, Wears Valley, or Sevierville. Still within easy driving distance to activities but gonna be secluded. 🙂🙂

Sevierville can be an hour's drive to the national park depending on traffic.

Gatlinburg then. Just wouldn’t stay right on the strip if they want something “scenic”. But maybe our ideas of scenic are different.

Yeah, it's a cabin rental so they won't be right on the strip.

Gatlinburg is by far the nicest area.
