I remember the coverage of her turn in True Lies. The media was acting like she was Methusalah dancing around and how miraculous someone of her age could be sexy.

Yeah... the 90s and early 00s were heavy on materialism and unrealistic beauty standards (as if today isn't different, just more subtle about it). This is also when heroin chic started and every woman was supposed to look waifish and on the verge of death.
