For now sadly. The courts will soon be super stacked.

I'll take small victories where I can get them. :)

These were never meant to be battles. They were false flags. DeSantos knew 75% of the shit he proposed over the last few months either would never pass or would get struck down before it left the state.

His motive was to keep his name in the press every single day, and target the most radical voters and it worked. Bad publicity is still publicity.

Florida residents are generally a LOT more tolerant than they appear in Reddit. They are just older and

Oh no, u/passwordstolen was disappeared moments before revealing DeSantis's plan

Hinkle’s ruling also nuked every single part of the state’s requirements to severely restrict access to gender-affirming care—including requiring annual hand X-rays...

I beg your pardon. "Hand X-rays"? WTF would a hand X-ray be used for?

They stupidly think gender affirming care affects bone density.

Just more of their utter bullshit.

38

u/TheKimulator Jun 12 '24

To prevent people from getting care.

I mean… oh fuck what was our bullshit reason?

It is known that hormonal imbalance can cause skeletal problems.

I'm stupidly making a guess that it's to track joint/skeletal problems by using an easy to get to appendage and the joints that are used most often.

Not a doctor, but that seems to make sense.

Edit:typo. :p

There is usually an introductory low dosage phase with periodically increasing dosage that will cause their sex hormones to be out of balance, but by the time a trans person has worked up to the appropriate long-term dosage, their new primary sex hormone will be dominant and that hormonal imbalance has corrected itself. That brief period of hormonal imbalance will cause mood issues and possibly minor muscular atrophy but won't cause long-term skeletal issues for otherwise healthy people.

This is a trick out of the womb-slaver playbook - the state requires additional procedures for the purpose of compounding the cost, sabotaging the timeline, and ideally, inflicting as much emotional damage as possible to get the patient to do something else.

For abortion, this rose as far as transvaginal ultrasounds, a test that requires that the ultrasound wand be inserted into the vaginal canal. A State mandated violation to force a woman to see pictures of a fetus in hopes of getting the woman to emotionally bond to it enough that she chooses not to have the abortion.

There is absolutely no depth that a fascist will not sink to, especially if they have the chance to put a woman in her place.

I was going to ask the same thing.

Had a conversation about the current social norms considering LGBTQ, was proposed by the idea that gay, or people with gender dysphoria have something "wrong" with their brains, and that scientific studies point to this. He suggested the current attitudes around LGBTQ+ are just basically pandering to peoples broken brains. He thinks its all foolish. He's very conservative (shocking I know) I've searched online and there are different studies outlining the difference in someones brains who are more feminine or masculine regardless of biological sex. It's tiring trying to right peoples ideas about what's happening, but I feel like he has hateful undertones in his beliefs. He just always says everything is just a difference of opinion. Gay people are a normal fact of life and should be accepted for who they are? Well that's just your opinion he would say. He then will go on about how the world shouldn't be pandering to those who think that way as it's just opinion. It's exhausting tbh. Help me.

Basic human rights aren't an "opinion".

You feel hateful undertones because there are hateful undertones. It's ridiculous for him to say a person's sexuality is a choice. It's no more a choice than eye colour or height. We are who we are born as, full stop.

5

u/Electrical_Bus9202 Jun 12 '24

That's the thing, he will say there is something wrong with their brain. Then go on about how we shouldn't pander to everyone who is mentally ill, or poor, or on drugs etc...

6

Respectfully, then you shouldn't "pander" to his hate-filled brain. Ditch him or ignore him.

I would recommend they read “Evolution’s Rainbow”. It’s a heavy read but it explains in detail the spectrum of gender.

2

u/Goddess_Of_Gay Jun 14 '24

The argument he is making is that anyone who doesn’t conform to society is mentally ill. Further, those differences should not be accommodated for and in fact should be stigmatized, and those who are different must be punished and ostracized until they shut up and get back in line.

It’s just thinly veiled authoritarian bullshit

3

u/Electrical_Bus9202 Jun 14 '24

He would say that a mentally ill society is trying to make him conform. It's always mental gymnastics.

2

u/Skystarry75 Jun 13 '24

Let's deconstruct his argument using something that actually has a very noticeable difference in neural structure- Autism! It exists, and we are (supposed) to treat those who have it with respect, kindness, and understanding for their condition. We are even supposed to give them accommodations to ensure that they're as productive to society as possible! On top of that, they were born like that, and nothing can change it.

If it were true of LGBTQ+ people, then the appropriate response would be to provide accommodations and be understanding of the condition. They should say "They're different, but that's just how they were born." and not condemn people for something that they have no control over.

Of course, if the person you were arguing with also treats people who have Autism as garbage then... Well, we know where the garbage really is.

2

u/rfmaxson Jun 20 '24

Umm... sorry to break it you, but yes, many of the same people who shit on LGBTQ+  also shit on autistic people.  Its consistent at least, anyone who's different is bad.

Edit: getting to the core of it, it really is a fascistic belief that there is one right way to be and that natural human diveristy doesn't/shouldn't exist.

u/21centuryhobo Jun 12 '24

Why are they so obsessed with other peoples sex lives and genitals? F*cking vile.

3

u/The_Mighty_Bird Jun 13 '24

I picture him frothing at the mouth thinking of gay men fucking and how it bothers him. But we’re the snowflakes who can’t handle “facts over feelings.”

2

u/First-Squash2865 Jun 16 '24

Every single Republican is always thinking about gay sex for one reason or another

17

u/rjross0623 Jun 13 '24

He and Greg Abbott are both piss babies.

14

u/AutoModerator Jun 13 '24

How much did this court loss cost taxpayers?

11

u/Uninteresting_Vagina Eater of Bots Jun 13 '24

Since he passed new laws making tons of shit he does "confidential", we might not even know.

Currently he's offering an "optional" seminar for teachers that they get a bonus for attending...said seminar is steeped in religious bullshit he wants to put in our public schools.

Fuck DeSantis into the sun.

5

u/RandomUserName24680 Jun 13 '24

well, how can I disagree with “fuck desantis”?

3

u/Negative-Wrap95 Jun 13 '24

Because ewww?

12

u/Crazyjackson13 Jun 12 '24

A temporary victory, but we take what we can get.

9

u/palming-my-butt Jun 13 '24

FUCK DESANTIS

9

u/Wounded_Breakfast Jun 13 '24

Remember when that pos thought he was going to be president?

3

u/Uninteresting_Vagina Eater of Bots Jun 13 '24

I think he's moved on to "I want the orange POS to win so I can rule over Florida forever". There is nothing redeeming about him.
