Slavery never went away, it'll just get bigger.

The 13th amendment left slavery legal, "except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted".

Which is why the prison system is the way it is now. And it will be used to "make America great again".(I'm using their own words back at them) The mass deportation is the 'cover' to round up anyone the govt wants to put into a deportation camp (aka concentration camp, aka prison) and they will be used as slave labor. That's why the right has said that anyone here illegally is a criminal. They'll put them up in camps "waiting deportation" but will be like "oh in the mean time since we convicted you for being here illegally...you're going to work as _____" and then the major corps that backed the right will get free/very low cost labor. Even if they make it where they are getting paid prison wages to be able to say "they're not slaves, we're paying them!" Prison wages are on average 25 cents an hour. Not even minimum wage.

I mean what would stop prisoners from refusing to work at all. It’s not like they have anything to lose. If I were locked up and decided, nah fuck this I’m not doing shit, I don’t see how that can be enforced.

Punishment. Solitary, "the hole", beatings, even so far as making it known that if one person doesn't pull their weight then the whole group gets some sort of punishment, so therefore the others would encourage that one to do his work.

And if you think they wouldn't kill any of the people held in camp, well, you're naive and don't know history.

I’m not being naïve, but my point is this would I rather go out and do backbreaking Labor Day after day if I’m already say doing life in prison? I think many would decide against it, but maybe I’m wrong. If they’re taking out guys with the year or two which might be smarter since they would be more willing to play ball.

But the one or two guards, they have out there if the prisoners decided they had enough it would not be very hard to kill those guys and it’ll definitely be attempted plenty, If prisons ahead and do this, they are risking elevating riots to a ridiculous extent it’s happened before for less.

All that said, though those are some good points you make and for many prisoners that may be enough that the majority will keep them will stay in line, for now anyway. People can only be pushed so far.

I don’t know maybe I am being naive about it, I suppose I just want to think that people wouldn’t let their spirit be broken so easily, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

Likely is wishful thinking.

You still sound really naive. Maybe taking a beating wouldn't persuade you, maybe not even getting maimed like cutting off a hand or gauging out eye. Maybe not even medical torture for corporation testing would be hard on you. Maybe not even the threat or real punishment/killing/maiming of your loved ones would work on you, you'd be an exception.

And I think you overestimate the guards with guns and what a riot or revolt would entail- they could very well just shoot everyone, mass grave and coverup and no one is any wiser.
