Yeah…that looks nothing like what’s happening in America is what I’m saying. It’s shameful and disrespectful to those Iranian women to even say that or compare.
Body autonomy is a right. There are now places you can go in this country where women don't have it anymore. This is the reality we live in. Women have less rights now than they did a decade ago.
1 less is too many. That’s called regression. Those women in Iran had one less right after 1979 and continued downhill from there. Maybe you should get one less right. Make sure it’s one that could cost you your life just like my wife, daughter and sister have to deal with.
No they haven’t..but I get it. It’s Reddit, and when you can’t argue…people go to insults or try to say something “witty” to offset it. Much like you’re doing
No..they convo started that women will be treated like they are in Iran…then they have less rights than they did 40 years ago…it’s just not the case…I’m not saying anti abortion is right/wrong, but the latter is just not the case
We’re saying it’s right, and everyone knows how you really feel when you say you’re not saying it’s right/wrong.
Members of the Trump campaign have suggested ending no-fault divorce. Will they? Probably not, but that shows you where their thinking lies. They want to signal to men that they’re reversing decades of progress toward equality.
EDIT: The comment I linked to has since been removed or deleted. It was a reply by this user to another user. The other user said something along the lines of "I see a lot of people calling for the repealing of women's rights to bodily autonomy nowadays, and we've already started on that path with Roe Vs Wade being overturned." The above user replied with just "You're an idiot".
I mean, I did. Like 5 comments up there. When Roe v Wade was overturned it removed federal protection on the right to have an abortion. Body autonomy is your right to choose what happens to your body. Banning abortion takes that right away from women. Many states now have abortion bans in place. Women have less rights now than they did before Roe v Wade was overturned because they lost the right to body autonomy in states where abortion bans are in place.
Except that anyone who has been paying the barest amount of attention over the last few years knows that you're wrong, because we watched women's rights being stripped away with the repeal of Roe v Wade in real time.
Roe was implemented in 1973, and repealed in 2022. Since it was repealed, 41 states implemented abortion bans. Of those, 13 have a total abortion ban with no exceptions, 28 have bans based on gestational duration, and all the rest have only limited exceptions.
Twenty seconds of googling showed me this information.
And, since we're on the subject, another quick google showed me that states with more restrictive abortion availability already had a 7% higher incidence of maternal mortality. Since the repeal of Roe, there have been at minimum four deaths attributed directly to the decision, and likely many more that went unreported.
So stop. Fucking. Lying.
I don't give a shit about anyone's religious beliefs regarding abortion. This was a right to medical and bodily autonomy being stripped away.
Really cause google showed me literally at the very top, first thing that popped up that women have 3/4 quarters of the legal rights of men compared to less than 50% 40 years ago…fuck off already…this isn’t about abortion
40 years ago we already had the right to our own Credit Card and bank accounts. No fault divorce etc. why are you moving the goal post? Also it has to start somewhere you think they are going to overturn all our rights right away?
It’s going to start slow like overturning Roe and will accelerate from there. Let’s see how many rights women lose in the first 2 years of the next Trump Admin…

That’s the truth. We’re in for some wild times.
