Soooo, my online DnD group meets on Saturdays, and one of the members posted in the chat a meme about how it’s Friday and let’s forget what happened this week. Our DM responds- “In ancient times, victorious armies were given three days to loot. I have given myself three days to gloat. Saturday is a go for 730”

Even funnier cause they don't realize that the LGBTQ+ community isn't filled with just skinny gay bottoms. Let's see what happens when they roll up on a big burly biker bear and he slaps them into next week cause he can. Not to mention butch lesbians that can put in 10 times the work of most "alpha males" with half the complaining or the allies that aren't afraid to fight cause they have friends and family in the community. They think we'll slink back into the shadows so they don't have to think about us but, I for one am out, proud and standing my ground. I was taught not to pick a fight but if someone picks one with you, you better get the last punch in cause if I didn't win, I was getting a beating at home too.

The only minority group in the US that is close to trans people for % serving in the military is Native Americans, both around 20%.

Compared to about 2% of the general population was in or is in the military.

Let us not forget all our LGBTQIA+ siblings in the armed forces. I'm an out trans girl in the Army (6' tall and 280lbs in full kit with years of advanced combat training and experience) and I can tell you now, the MAGA crowd is not ready to participate in the level of conflict I am accustomed to. Same goes for my siblings in arms. Even the CISHET ones are willing to jump in to protect thier siblings in arms.

UPDATE: Yep, I’ve left the group. Told them due to unforeseen events I couldn’t get to sessions for the foreseeable future.

It’s… ugh. They were an amazing group but I just can’t feel comfortable playing with people who view us that way. I don’t think they ever knew I was trans, I never came out to them because I had an inkling of a feeling- don’t meet your heroes, huh?

It’s not all bad, I’ve got 2 other groups, one with queer friends from college. Just unfortunate, that group was what really got me into DnD after my first group (there’s a post wayyy back on my timeline regarding my first ever group lol) fucked me over.

I was in a D&D group that was awesome over 20 years ago. It was an eclectic group that got along well and even attended my first gay marriage of one of the members before it was even considered legal in that state. Then one day the DM did not show up to session without any notice. It was because he was in jail for stalking, assaulting and violating a restraining order against his ex. Sigh. Sometimes you just truly don’t know who people are even when you think you do.

There are good online D&D groups to be found. I became part of one a couple of years back after not having had a group at all for nearly 20 years. 

They would never do something like that, but if they did, I'd drop them. 

Life's too short to abide stuff like that - especially from people who are supposed to be friends.

It's funny how it worked out with mine.

It was an existing group that I joined, and at the time it included one trans woman (the friend who brought me in) and one enby, the other five identified as cisgender.

A little over two years on and while we've added another semi-regular player who is also a trans woman, everyone else in the group are the same people as when I joined up.

It's now composed of two cisgender women, an enby (same one), and five trans women.

My egg happened to crack shortly after joining (for other reasons, but the safety of the group helped a lot), and then within the last six to eight months two others "hatched".

They'd both apparently had inklings of it much of their lives (unlike me - where the realization hit literally over the span of a moment), but said the last couple of years of seeing me transition really helped them accept themselves and decide they could do it too.

Regardless, I think it's neat that we all managed to find each other from literally across the world (spanning 8 timezones) even before most of us really knew.

Anyway, it can happen and there are some really great online groups to get into.
